Venice and Dubrovnik

So Venice i cannot say much...why cause we all worked 11hrs....man that was real murder.....but i guess when you are unexpectedly short staffed that is what happens....so today would be my almost last day shift...full day shift, then tomorrow, Dubrovnik , would be morning shift from 8 until 12:30 and then i would start my nightshift at 23:00.... Im off course a little nervous cause nightshift you are all by yourself...u get given an entire check list what stuff needs to be done, and it must be done off course. I must admit my friend from finance and me were very lucky cause we are nightshift together for one week....at least we will have fun, we can gossip and order room service together....so im actually only dreading it half.....so just to finish...Venice killed....but as u might guess...i survived or i would not be writing this. I managed to have one last breakfast with my mom which was nice...final gossip session and then at 10 i said good bye.....but she was good to go...she said she saw me so happy that she felt good to leave me....so yay.....

Now...let me tell you about Dubrovnik....this time i actually had the entire day off, well after 12:30, but we only dock at 2 and leave at 9pm...so yes, i think i can say i was off the entire day......so what did i do.....actually my friend said he would organise what we will do...i just gave a few hints like beach and food.....the deal was that he organises Dubrovnik and ill do Izmir.....so off we went at 2.... This is the nice part about nightshift...no time constraint....can just go out and enjoy without having to stress to be late for work.....in Dubrovnik the beaches are pebbles....so when we got there i was not surpised to see no sand.....we walked along the promenade and there were many small little restaurants, bars/ coffee shops, i can imagine quite a vibe at night....we chose a spot, rented some sun chairs and just chilled, man i was so relaxed.....the sea is so clear, and yes im not a beach bum, but trust me when you are on the ship all the time working, then sometimes the beach as opposed to exploring the city sounds like a very good plan.....the water so amazing crystal clear...actually like the Carribean...i was so relaxed...had a fab time....here are some pics from the beach.....

Around 5 tummie started to growl and the little places looked quite inviting.....now a place to choose....hmmmm....well there was just one thing i wanted to make sure there was on the menu.....octopus salad.....other than that i was not fussy.....we found a cute little place and ordered some food....no wine cause i had to work and it was way too hot....so we ordered an octopus salad and a mixed cold platter...specialities from Dubrovnik...and not to forget...im sure u all know what 2 things or should i say three things were off course also part of the lunch.....bread, olive oil, and at the end i ordered a macchiato.....hmmmm....that was the only thing that went wrong, but it tasted good.....an espresso came NO foam, hmmmm....they were lucky that the coffee was so strong or i might have thrown a fuss.....but i must admit....food was amazing....here are some pics....

So, yes, you might guess what ill say next....i had a really great day out.....and when we got back i coUld chill a little and sleep a little before starting night shift...so good night for 2hrs and then i started night shift......i was a little panicy what to expect but i guess i would just have to wait and see......so 22:45 i rocked up at the back office...ready with my check list....reAdy for a long nite.....and guess what this time i think it would be the first time where i was going to say.....yay for one hour forward.......So lets chat about my first night shift...tasks are refilling all forms, drawing souvenir maps, updating and checking lost and found, writing reports etc etc and then each night also noise monitoring....and off course phone calls and guests at reception.....so not too bad....Banu and i had so much fun, ordering room service, chicken fingers, BLT sandwich, fruits and biscuits....and tons and tons of coffee....honestly that is the only way through.....the wierd part is in the morning when the other people start arriving....you have been there for like 8hrs, have not slept, dont feel fresh at all and they all look ready for the day.....my first night shift ended at 7:30.... Could def not fall asleep straight away, so stayed up chatting a bit and then passed out around 10 for about 4hrs...then i actually asked my friend to wake me so that i could go to gym and enjoy the sea day sun a little...i def dont wanna waste the whole day sleeping.....then around 6pm i had dinner and then slept again from 7 until 9 and then woke up again and chilled till shift started at 23:30..... Yes, i know i went into major details of exactly when i slept and stuff...but i just thought it woud be interesting, once.....dont worry i wont bore u with the exact sleep pattern of every single night shift....well actually that might be a lie...if im bored during my next couple of night shifts then i will go into details...then at least my time goes by.....haha.....so anyway....now i need to do some work.....chat soon.....im getting there wirh catching up.....sea day i have talked about...next blog will be Pireaus/Athens and Izmir.....yay.....
