Piraeus and Izmir

So....Piraeus morning.....survived my second nightshift BUT now came the little horror.....i have to attend the boat drill which is at 10, so the debate was sleep or no sleep....well lets say the plan was NOT to sleep, but i did pass out for about 30min.....i was so glad the drill was speedy, im always glad when it is speedy but this time i was extra happy.....have i actually told you that my safety position has changed.....hmmmm....not sure, lets quickly recap.....so in the beginning i didnt have a position that is because i didnt have the basic safety training (fire fighting and first aid), then my position changed to the reception back office where i became a messenger...and then suddely a week later it changed again, strange, i was swopped to go onto the bridge, which for those of u who dont know is the area from which the ship gets steered, hence the officers and the captain are up there......so back to the point now....the drill was rather quick...then i slept a little in the sun and after that i thought i just wanted to get some internet in the terminal, for once i was not in the mood to go into Piraeus or Athens cause i had not really slept and thought i should at least sleep a little....so just some internet would do....had a cappucino and baklava outside....should i give the verdict on coffee....yes....as always, strong coffee but foam was terrible.....i miss the foam back home....when i get back home they better not dissappoint my expectations, the baklava, divine...but man those things are sweet.....pic....

Nightshift was good...not much has been happening, which im honestly glad about, id rather have a boring night...and spending time with Banu, it actually goes quite quick, the room service we def enjoy...it is kind of strange to be eating at such arb hrs...and most of the time u dont eat ause u r hunsgry, but just because u bored or its theRe....bad habit...but what the hell....izmir today....my plan was to go for a wax, then the basar and some lunch....then maybe some sleep...but that was def last on the list.....(i mean sleep)

I finished my shift at 8, then i chilled, changed and headed out just before 9. Went to my normal wax place...did i tell u they are so cheap in Turkey, hence i always go there...amazing...anyways....the reason im telling u this u will see just now....i know i could have skipped the wax story...but i do have a point..so hang in there...or just go to the next paragraph.....so where was i, i went to my usual spot but they said the lady only arrives at 1030, i was not gonna wait...so i went to the Main street in hope i would find one....well.....problem...i dont talk Turkish...never mind that.....i found this place tried to explain what i want, then the lady took me to this dodgy looking spot where a guy took me into a security door and up the stairs, now i was starting to sweat a little...what the hell was i doing...and i didnt even have a phone cause my battery died so i didnt take it....but then i entered a salon and some turkish lady was there...again no english but somehow we managed to settle what i needed done and the end result....pleasing....anyway....the point of the story....take a phone...and actually in hindsight i should not have gone up those stairs......

So after that....time to head to the basar....first i went to the nutshop where i met my friend and we took a stroll down to the market.....down the main traffic road.....found the basar quite easily...and we even found spots where i had not been to before....we actually found the spots that i love...the food market....so my scene....even if i dont buy...just looking at all the local stuff...just love it....the only part i dont enjoy is the smelly fish section.....we tried some cheese, and decided to buy some...yes its not allowed to be taken in...but i do have my connections.....after the market we decided it was time for some lunch which we wanted to have on the main street again....so strolled back up, stopping at some coffee shop where we had 2 different baklavas and tried some cheese...now i hate to admit this....my friend chose one baklava and i chose one...and for the first time, his choice was better than mine...i failed to win...damn....i better think a little more carefully next time...dont like being wrong....and i dont think it was close....his choice was a hell of a lot better....but at least we shared....after that we actually found quite a cool street...it has international shops....saphora, lacoste, mango etc etc....Here is a pic....

....time for lunch.....the deal was to go somewhere to have Turkish pizza....yes, yes, i have had it quite often but, one he has not had it and two this is the second last time in Turkey so i have to have it again.....my usual spot was packed and we were not in the mood to wait....so we looked around for a different spot......and guess what...we found one....somwe had a local salad and 2 different pizzas, one was the lahmachun, but this time full of cheese on top, yummy, and the other one had beef pieces and some vegetables....was ok...i would order something else next time.....def the first pizza and salad though.....here are some pics....the last pic is from Izmir last time, when i was with Dina and my parents....i had promised to post the pic of the stuffed potato....so here it is also (last one)..... And the next blog is about Split.....cause sea day....as you might guess.....nothing interesting.....maybe some interesting nightshift stories.....lets see.....good nite now.......
