Image
Another beautiful day.....this time visiting a beautiful wine farm between Cortona and Montepulciano....going by the name Avignonesi. They have various options to see the wine farm including; tasting only, tour of winefarm and lunch pairing, tour of winefarm and tasting.....we had three boys and Sofia with us....so we opted for the winefarm tour and tasting of four wines. As you drive into the winefarm it is the typical Tuscan setting, cyprus trees on both sides, just so breath-taking....and of course the vines....beautiful. Once we arrived we were explained a little about Avignonesi.... The winery is named after the Avignonesi family, the founders of the original estate. Constant research and development aimed at expressing the true character of the Montepulciano terroir has, over time, earned the winery a well-deserved place among the flagship producers of Tuscany. In 2009, Avignonesi was acquired by Virginie Saverys who has since introduced organic and biodynamic farming methods to

Montalcino....another quaint little old town.....also...very beautiful. Mom, dad and Mutti had gone there with some friends for lunch to a place called Vineria Le Potazzine....and they said it was such a wonderful lunch that they would love to go back and show us....in fact...we have been there twice now (them three times) and yes, we will go back again....let me show you a pic of the logo.... Vineria Le Potazzine The first time we went it was while Kim's family was visiting us.....the boys wanted their mains straight away, while us adults decided to have some antipasto....this consisted of tomato brushetta, various pecorino cheese and various cold meats.....with that...the men decided on some Rosso di Montalcino and us ladies decided on a bubbly.....let me share some facts about the wines from Montalcino... In the case of Montalcino, gradual economic decline has recently been reversed by economic growth due to the increasing popularity of the town's famous wine Brunello di M

So...i have quite a few eating places we have visited here lately....so i am going to tell you about them....the first one is a little shop...well it looks like a shop from the outside (specifically, a small grocery shop), but when you look inside...you realise there are a few tables at the back....simple....wooden tables, with plastic knifes and forks and paper serviettes....well....why not be like the locals and try something like that for a light lunch....and that is exactly what we did....mom, dad and me ordered a glass of prosecco and Mutti wanted some water....the lady, who by the way runs the shop and the little restaurant....and MAKES the food, thought, why only bring three glasses....si she said, she would leave the bottle for us...hahaha.....well, in fact it was a very yummie prosecco....so yes, it was a good choice to leave the bottle.....let me share a pic... Prosecco Dad ordered a panini con proscuitto crudo e formaggio and us three ladies ordered a salumi e formaggio pia
