As promised....today, we are off to Firenze but not before having a divine breakfast ranging from proscuitto crudo to cheese to cornetti to cakes....delicious....after that...time to start moving.....it took us 45min to get there....we found a parking garage near Ponte Vecchio which was very convenient.....and off we strolled.....over Ponte Vecchio, which was a little like Rialto Bridge in Venice, just a lot bigger, but I must say nothing, oh my word wow....it was quite ordinary. Let me show you some pics..... Ponte Vecchio Me on Ponte Vecchio Our first stop was for an ice cream.....we thought we wanted to try something a little bit different, so went for nocciola aka hazelnut (my choice) and fragola aka strawberry (kim's choice).....kim and i were shocked when the lady told us how much....in fact i thought i misunderstood her......€7!!!!!! What????!!??? Anyway....nothing we could do.....the ice cream was good though....but still not €7 good.....And at least it was big Ice cream s

We arrived in Chianti late afternoon after leaving San Marino around 10, the main reason of course because we did not take a direct road to Greve in Chianti but rather some sightseeing roads. We had a good lunch on the way, took us some time to find a ristorante which wAs open on a Sunday and unfortunately no pizza.....so many places we asked said, no pizza for lunch.....hmmmmm.....we settled for pasta....we also stopped at a market for some wild boar salami, some peccorino cheese And other goodies, of course there was also a stop for ice cream and this time we found a gelateria....and we found amarena and pistaccio.....it was damn good.....So when we arrived at our beautiful place, terre di baccio we decided to have our food for the evening alfresco at home, Kim had also found a Chianti wine, so we were sorted.....divine....what a chilled evening...... Our dinner at terre di baccio The next day Kim planned an entire route for us around Chianti....first past Lamole then to Volpaia, t

As promised im going to tell you what we explored on our day in San Marino....it started off with a simple breakfast at our hotel, La Grotto. Some cold cuts, bread, yoghurts....what more can you ask....and i love the juice, blood orange, divine.....now before I tell you where and what we explored mazybe I need to tell you a little bit about San Marino. San Marino claims to be the oldest surviving sovereign state and constitutional republic in the world. There are about 32 000 inhabitants and about 64 square kilometres, in fact it is the fifth smallest independant country in the world.....so enough about facts......let me tell you about our day.... Ther are three main towers in San Marino, the 1st and 2nd towers one still has to pay entrance cause it has a small museum while the 3rd tower you can just view from the outside. The weather was not great, a little drizzle and a lot of fog, which made actually for some really cool pics....but before i start with pics....so Kim and i decided t

I know i said ill write about Italy....well almost....we arrived in Florence from where we rented a car and guess what we rented.....We rented a Fiat 500....when Kim booked for us it said there are no convertibles, so we rented a normal one...however, we thought we would take a chance when we were at the counter and asked whether they had a convertible....and guess what....we were lucky....they had one.....that was such exciting news.....we packed our little Fiat with all our luggage...well Kim packet it all very skillfully and amazingly it all fitted and actually quite easily....what a pleasant surprise...and also, the space for the two front people, quite luxurious...another surprise.....then time to start our journey to San Marino. Kim chose some scenic route to get there rather than the highway which I thought would be nice.....but first challenge was to get out of Florence, cause we did not wanna hit the highway....and man Florence has so so so many one-ways, did i say many, yes
