Italian night and Corfu

Man....time seems to be flying and i seem to run out of hrs....well work hrs are long but free time is short...I guess that is always the case though....once again im a little behind....but anyways.....ill try catch up a little bit this week.....well at least im gonna attempt....lets see if ill manage.....

So we have Alessio on board, he is part of my team and he comes from Rome. His parents are joining us this cruise and as a surprise he asked his mom to bring some buffalo mozzarella and home made pasta and pesto on board that we would eat....yummy......buffalo mozzarella and real pesto....who would not like that.....so at 8pm.....it was time....i was off duty so it was good, the people that had to work got turns to come and eat for 20min....so glad that i was off......the captain also got invited because Alessio wanted to thank him for putting his parents on the VIP list......the Food & Beverage manager cooked the food and then brought it up to the staff mess......large plate of carprese and a HUGE bowl of spaghetti and pesto.....it was so good.....loved it....but here is a funny fact......the captain decided he would add tomato sauce (a few squirts) onto his pasta.....hmmmm......the Italians were in shock......haha....you should have seen the faces, but the best part was when he had his second helping and he added a lot of parmesan to make the tomato squirts look invisible........Alessio laughed and said he will just pretend he didnt see it.....for me....the mozzarella would have been better if it would have been torn not cut....small change....major impact.....but yummy nevertheless......unfortunately i did not take a pic......

So this happened during sea day evening....cause embarkation evening is a little bit too hectic.....so the next day was Corfu......no drill and i was Off from 10:30 until 2:30..... I thought i was dreaming.....really...what a nice schedule.....so around 11, Kim and i leFt the ship....he wanted to take the public transport to the old town....but you know me.....when i can walk...i want to walk......so we walked to the pebble beach.....i think the bus would have been a better idea...it was so hot.....but i guess a swim was well deserved and very appropriate.....the beaches in Corfu have pebbles not sand......so sun tanning is not great...but water is crystal clear......and it was warm......so def time to relax a little in the water... And yes even i, who am not a water rat...love to spend some time in the water, like i said before, it is more relaxing than sight seeing all the time....and these Greek islands are more beach.....so yes, the water was amazing to go in...swam a little and just chilled in the cool water.....After that time for some coffee and some lunch......hmmmmm.....feels like im on holiday......here are some pics from beach...

Now time to explore the old town a little.....parts which i have not been to before......the clouds were coming inn a little which was actually good cause sun was getting too hot....so now it was hot but no sun.....we sat down at some local coffee shop has some good old Greek coffee.....and yes.....i think we all know what the verdict is....so im not gonna say it.......after that it was food time....but on the way to finding a spot...the icecam shop was just too good.....double choc and pistaccio....who could resist....choc a little too rich though.....but pistaccio def as good as Italian icecream....sorry Italy........then we found a small local restaurant and ordered some food....and yes....of course we ordered a Greek salad......and some baked four cheese with bread.....man that baked four cheese was so good.....and the bread......so crispy....i think im hungry as im writing this......let me stop for a little and have something to eat.....then ill be back......so im back.....just had some salad and salmon.....excellento......here are some pics what we ate at Corfu.....

So i really enjoyed having some time, and no rush in Corfu for once, i dont think ill have a schedule like this one again....so after that i went back to work (and yes, on the way back we took the bus....nut just because we were a little but rushed......ok....we could have walked.....) and finsished around 8pm....man i love morning shifts.....getting time off in the evening is so nice....relaxing, watching movies.....i much rather get up and get going.....only reason i like getting up for like a 6am shift start is cause i hate having to work late into the night (that is afternoon shift).....oh well....nowadays it is one week morning, one week afternoon cause we only doing the Greek island run...before it was 2 weeks morning and 2 weeks afternoon....not much fun......ok....so the next port is Santorini....wont be able to go out.....but maybe ill still have something to say about it......you just gonna have to wait and see.......then Mykonos....so yes...my next blog Santorini and Mykonos.....
