Bucket List

Image
So...i have thought long and hard about this one...and this definitely was not written in one day....in fact this is probably not the last time i am updating this....in fact...i think this blog will be continually edited....but one needs to start one day...what is a bucket list...i guess most people know....but for those that do not know...it is things that you want to do before you die...for me...it is a lot of travelling...places i would like to see....it could also be something you want to do...for example to sky dive...which i must admit...was on my bucket list at some stage but i scrapped it...why...they say...once you have children, you cannot be selfish and do such risky things....and somehow...i do agree....gliding from a mountain is still on the bucket list though, cause you glide, which means it is open before you start.... You might be thinking...why is she writing this bucket list on a blog...well...because a piece of paper gets lost.....and on the ipad, it can get erased

Chef Table at Norwegian Jade

Image
WOW......that is what i can say....truely an experience.....a first for me....and it was divine....now you are probably like...what is she going on about...but maybe you have figured it out from the heading of my blog. Kim organised for us to attend the chef table on the cruise...this normally happends once a week and as you might guess by the name, the chef attends it and talks you through a 9 course meal with a few wine pairings. There is one table and it seats 12 guests. The evening started off in the Tankard bar, one of the bars on the ship, with a glass of Berlucchi Cuvée 61 Rose from Lombardy, Italy. A very nice brut bubbly. After that they took a group pic of the 12 of us and then we were shown to our table and were seated as our name tags directed. The chef then came and introduced himself, Chef Rodney from Barbados. Throughout the night he came and gave an explanation on each dish before we tasted it. He also explained a little about himself, how he got to where he is now, ab

Belize, Belize

No...not a typo...we were in Belize City in the country of Belize....another country in the Carribean sea...so guess what...it was warm....kim and i wanted to do the cave tubing....BUT....the tour was cancelled cause there had been way too much rain lately and hence the river levels were at an unsafe level...damn...hence we needed to make another choice....so we ended up with a city tour of Belize and an airboat ride...the tour only started after lunch so kim and i decided to go ashore a bit by ourselves....we did not end up doing much...looked at the some souvenir shops...and then of course Belize is known for rum...then again...most of the Carribean is know for rum...so we decided to have a rum and coke at one of the local bars....typical Carribean bar.... Kim enjoying rum and coke Me enjoying rum and coke I must say the city tour was quite interesting, it was a bus ride through the various areas and i must complement the tour guide, i think she is the one who made it, she was info

Cozumel, Mexico

So...this time...i am actually doing a cruise which i have never done before...actually i am going to see places which i have never seen before...so yes...i am quite excited...main thing of course to join my husband for his birthday....which is today in Cozumel....Mexico (for those of you who might not know)....it is an island...well let me share a pic...easier to explain..... Where is Cozumel The plan was pretty staight forward....we go out...wonder around a little....check out the many souvenir shops...have something to eat and of course try the margarita cocktail....but before that of course....it was present opening and cake on the bridge...kim's favourite banana cream pie with marzipan....and man..it was so delicious that i actually ended up taking a second helping and then we took one slice for later (yes, a little greedy but when would i get this cake again.....hahaha). Unfortunately i did not have my camera with me, so i did not manage to take a pic...which i know is very

Paris macaroon

Well....not really Paris...more like Paris Airport.....im on my way to see my husband in the States....and the best route for me was to fly from JHB to Paris and then from Paris to Houston.....i had a few hours lay over in Paris and made the best of it....that included breakfast....2 cappuccino....and a macaroon for dessert.... The terminal i was in did not have a lot of options for coffee, so i ended up at this organic self service cafe....cappuccino was decent...not the best...foam too little and not thick enough...but at least i got asked whether i wanted chocolate sprinkles....the price...oh my word....€3.80....but they know....you are stuck..no other place you can buy...so if you want cappuccino...you pay the price...anyway...i got to sit there for 3hrs...enjoying cappuccino and breakfast....and free wifi. The highlight was when i saw this little macaroon stand....of course France is famous for these...so yes, i had to get one. The name of the stall "Laduree- Maison fondee en
