Koi at Design Quater

Image
So.....we have tried Sandton Koi and we have tried Rosebank Koi....now the verdict on the new Koi in Design Quater....I purposfully made a booking in the morning of Sunday for 2pm on Sunday....why did i make the booking because we have a pram and because we wanted to sit outside....they confirmed they would give me an outside table which had space for a pram.....when we got there, they started to walk inside, i of course inquired what was going on and they stated that something went wrong and they would seat us inside until there was a table available, what could we do.....once we were seated inside we thought it was not worth our while to move again.....so we stayed inside.... Menu came and dad wanted dim sums to share....so we ordered the prawn and shitake dim sums and the mixed platter which contained spinach and feta dumplings, beef potstickers and chicken and ginger dumplings...of course they come with two sauces a chili type sauce and a plum type sauce....divine....let me share

Die Ou Pastorie

It was a Wednesday morning when Kim spontanously had the idea to take a KTM bike for a test drive, he was given the bike for a couple of hours so he asked whether we could for a ride towards Haartebeespoort Dam and have a lunch at a nice restaurant (he had been ther e before on a Sunday morning bike ride with the boys). Around 12:00 we left, we took the route past Diepsloot, at least it was not so cold, around 22 degrees. This bike does not have so much protection for the backseat driver as the Indian vintage or the Harley CVO, so it took me a little to get used to it, I felt s little unprotected around myself, but I soon got used to it and enjoyed the ride...the restaurant Kim had in mind was called die ou pastorie, it is a B&B open for lunch from Wed to Sunday, has tables all in the garden, scattered everywhere...beautiful setting. The menu was written on an A4 page and it looked yummie...Kim said the chicken liver pate starter with the Rooibos jelly was very yummie...he had me

So it was one of those Sundays where Kim and I thought it would be nice to venture somewhere different for lunch....to the countryside....and Kim had not been in the Cradle area....so why not go there....spontaneous decision on a Sunday morning....i had bookmarked Le Sel and thought id give them a call and hope they had a space....they informed me that it was a 3 course menu, set price, but various starters, various mains and a dessert buffet....so we thought...oh well, we might as well try..... What a beautiful area, just 30 minutes from JHB and you think you are in the middle of nowhere....peacful, away from the buzz, just relaxing.....we parked and made our way to the restaurant...it was a little distance to walk and a quite a few steps down....damn, we would have to walk those steps up after lunch....hmmmm....we were seated on the terrace which was great, unfortunately at the back of the terrace cause the front tables are all table for four people....and the back and tabkes for tw

Yes...I am actually going to write another blog about cappuccino and cake...why...cause Kim and I really enjoy going for something sweet in the afternoon, hence we managed to explore quite a few places, you should be proud of us because we managed to try new places and new cakes...and that you might know is quite an achievement for us....so where do I start....Coffee Roastery in Parkhurst... It was one of those beautiful sunny Winter Sunday's. So Kim decided to take me on a bike ride on a beautiful Indian Motorcycle....let me share a pic with you... Indian Motorcycle Wow...what a nice ride...and just such a beautiful bike...unfortunately when we arrived at our beautiful Coffee Roastery there were so spaces in the sun, so we ended up sitting in the shade....which was damn cold...so we moved inside and ordered our cappuccino...then we also asked about our carrot cake...and guess what....they did not have....what....we drove all this way and they don't have...i gue
