Piraeus and Izmir

So...Piraeus...first time that i decided i didnt have time to get into Athens...and well i have seen it....heard there was a beach near Piraeus and not full of crew people so thought that sounded like a much better plan.....my parents i sent to Acropolis, i just think if you have never seen it you need to go check it out....so they went off in the morning, and i told them to use the Hop On Hop Off bus....skipping forward just a little....they ally enjoyed seeing it but said that it was way too hot, also had Greek salad, on my recommendation, and they loved it...so i think i made some good suggestions.....anyway...now more about me...this is my blog, so i guess im more interesting, haha.....

We, a friend and i, decided to go to the beach, i had no clue to go, just heard that it was about a 30min walk, but if we speed walk, 20min, and u know me, why waste time walking when walking fast means more time at the beach....so at least he had a phone with a GPS so we found the beach easily, not the nicest beach but honestly it felt so good to get away from the city, it was so relaxing, the beach was pepples with some sand and the water was literally crystal clear....im not trying to sound cheesy but it was....we laid on the beach, managed to get a slight tan, had a swim, that was a mission and a half cause the entire "entrance" to the beach was large stones with algea, so almost fell a couple of times, actually looking back, it was quite funny....water, little cool but refreshing......after that def time to eat....and of course Greek bread with great olive oil and a large Greek salad with grilled octopus on the side....we actually wanted deep fried anchovies but they didnt have, so grilled octopus it was.....and i know you are going to guess what i thought of the food....amazing...but.....the grilled octopus in Katakolon was better.....i like comparing....yum yum....did take a pic of the setting at the restaurant, but i didnt realise that my eyes are closed....so guess what im not gonna post it....i need to look good in photos, haha......i managed to get to work just in time, was back 5min Before i start...but i mean how much more time do i need....yes maybe a little more would have allowed me to. Wash off the salt water...but this way i was still dreaming of the beach while working.....haha.....no, im not being cheesey.....

Now Izmir....finally had time, 5hrs to spend with my parents....they were so excited.....so at 12:15 i was off and i met them at the exit of the ship and off we went....i had exact plans....first we would go to the main street and meet Dina for some lunch, she had 2hrs off with me, so i thought my idea was quite good....so we met at the place where Radu and i ate once, the only ason being cause there i know the Lahmachun pizza is good.....the place ally looks like a fast food outlet, but hey, if the food tastes good...what the hell.....so we ordered the pizza, some stuffed potato and dad prderedhis own. I think we allknow he doesnot like to share, WHATEVER, his loss......so actually we ordered some Tuerkish salad thing, but theysomehow decided to add the salad onto a baked potato, was actually a very good surprise when it came to the table....here are some pics, ok ill put pics on next time cause im just waiting to get them and i wanna post the blog......

Ater that Dina had to go back to work and we went to the famous nut shop at the end of the road....man, i bought a lot, also mom bought a lot, was very happy that dad was with us cause he offered to carry, such an offer one should never not accept, thank you.....it was so hot that the decision, from dad, was to take a taxi to the basar, cause walking would take around 35min, cause they are slower than Dina, Radu and me.....so axi it was.....the market was great...yes, not much to buy, but the atmosphere is nice....and i actually felt like a blonde at one time....here is the story....but first here are some pics....

So...of course we sat down at a typical coffee/ tea shop and had some Turkish tea, me and mom, and coffee for dad. Wen the coffee came, he was like....why is it all so thick, so i said well that is the way it is, just drink it. He gave me this one look which kind of said "sandra, i can cleary see you do not understand the art of drinking Turkish coffee", he then went on to say, it is funny...some people think when they get the coffee, they must drink it straight away, but in reality you have to wait for the coffee to settle, which will take between 5 and 10min and then all the thick stuff is at the bottom and then the coffee was amazing......ok well....here is where the blond part comes in.....I drank the coffee without waiting for it to settle, no wonder i wanted to throw up...so im a little embarrassed to say i clearly had to clue....hmmmmm...im still worried to try it again after my last experience though. After that i realised we had one hour before i started work and it would be nice to walk back instead of a taxi....so we said we start walking and if it gets too hot we take a cab.....well we managed to walk ALL. It was so good to get some fresh air and just enjoy a semi-chilled walk back.....after work that night Dina and i decided it is a girls night, her and me...so we had some good South African wine in our cabin, some chatting but then we ended up in another cabin......so oops herre goes the girls night....but what a nice evening, we both had so much fun.....i just cannot believe that in 3 days Dina is leaving....man it eill be so hard for me....i never thought id make such an amzing friend, someone you can share everything with, so unexpected but so so nice...thank you Dina for entering me life, you have helped me so much and i learnt so much.......

So....now i just have Split and then the run is finished again.....then i have one more week that i need to tell you about and finally i am back on track, that will feel good.....have just been way too busy, but good busy....actually very good busy.....chat soon......
