Santorini

Image
So yesterday was Santorini.....nice but i would have prefered to share my day with someone....i was very excited to finally see this "most amazing Greek island", but to be honest my best is Mykonos, and that is after having seen Santorini....although i admit...my time was limited so i only went to Fira, and apparently Oia is the village to see in Santorini, but that i would prefer to do with friends. All my friends had such funny shifts that no one was off....but you know me....so i went a little my myself.....so lets start with just a few steps back...haha.....  After Venice was sea day....so we actually decided after dinner it would be nice to drink some of the Italian wine we have..of course we organised some wine glasses and some nuts, biscuits and cake.....and we just chilled in Dina and my room...what a cool evening...ended up going to bed at 2am...but so what, we all had late shift, meani first one of us started at 10, that was mr...i was supposed to start at 12:30 bu

Venice

So...had a really shit afternoon yesterday and this morning....so i really needed a good 4 hrs out in Venice....i really really needed it....so when i saw it was raining at 10:30, 30min before i was off i was not so happy....but never mind...make the best of the situation i thought....but somehow the weather was on my side and decided to be nice to me...i was off and it was actually warm....yay.....so off we went at 10:40....and i had a really good 3hrs out...my head not thinking about anything.....what did we do...... We started walking and stopped at a supermarket to buy some water and fresh olives, man i have never seen such olives, the colour and the taste...so good...so fresh....i thought they would be bitter when i looked at the colour....but they were far from it...here is a pic.... After that we continued our walk towards Rialto.....but again....you know me...i saw this cool little restaurant, that just said to me...come inside and look at my buffet...was 11:30 by now....so ye

Bridge and Split

Image
So i promised to tell you about my last module Training...about my exam and some more awesome pics on Split.....lets start in chronological order.....so after my amazing lunch in Izmir i didnt care to have to go back for training.....which in the end lasted 3hrs....and 45min was spent on the bridge, like i mentioned before is where the officers are who steer the ship.....so im not gonna go into the theory of the last module was pretty boring...about what colour bin the bottle and can bin is to why we wear protective gear with chemicals.....but the bridge was nice....its on deck 12 and the area is so big.....of course it is right in the front....they showed us how they can see the temperature in each cabin, how they see whether a cabin has smoke.....where they press the various alarm buttons for any emergency and of course where the steering occurs.....looks like a cockpit but a little less complicated....i also got to put on an officers hat and sit in the steering chair....hehe...the s

Water prac and Izmir

So....finally wet drill or wet practical, sbasic safety, can be ticked off and called done....yay.....so so happy.....but i must admit it was fun. So we went to the guest pool area, they had closed it off for us, we had to put on life jackets and there was a life raft in the boat......first we had to jump into the pool the correct way, which is: 1. Look down to see that the water below is clear 2. Grab onto your lifejacket toghtly 3. Look straight ahead to the horizon, this ensures neck is straight 4. Take one large step forward 5. Move feet together All this had to be done then we jumped, i was just praying that the pool would be warm....and it was like a bath...so happy about that, then we had to swim in a group and board the liferaft....was fun...after that we each had to turn the liferaft from upside down into correct position, which means u have to get onto liferaft and lesn back, you will fall with your back into water and liferaft will be on top of you and then you swim out from

Fire fighting prac

Image
So finally the day has arrived that we have to do fire fighting practical....we had to dress in the total fire fighting gear, boots, pants, jacket, gloves, head scraf, hat, oxygen tank and mask.....wow....and in total i was in that thing from 1430 until 1730...... Man that oxygen tank was so heavy.....my back was killing me......so here is what we did.....during this very very long afternoon.....there is 9 of us doing this course and unfortunately some very eager beavers in the class and one very very slow person......so...First thing we did was have a tour through the engine room.....that was so cool....and so hot....but i loved it....very interesting to see and whne do you ever get the chance to go there...... Then off to the first real practical....a manual search for a person, they filled the entire gym with smoke so thick that you couldnt even see your own hand....then we had to go in teams of three and do a proper search how it is done in real life, was actually very cool, but i

End of second Greek island run

Image
So....after Corfu i really wanted to publish my blog....never happened...internet on the ship has been so bad, but really so bad.....and outside i havent managed to find connection...and sometimes actually no time...actually this run i havent really gone out....i guess its called basic safety..... So after Corfu was SUPPOSED to be Santorini......oh what a day.....hell.....where to start.....well lets start i was so excited...finally morning shift...i would end at 4 and we only had to be back on the ship at 9pm...so it was celebration...and there were a couple of us all off at the same time....the plan was get out, walk up NOT the cable car, find a cool spot, eat Greek tapas and drink Greek wine....who would have ever imagined not being able to tender, anchor, because of safety reasons.....NO-ONE......so guess what when rumours started that it is way too windy and that it would be dangerous to anchor...so it would turn into a sea day....what the hell....that is so wrong.....on every le

Le Bistro

Image
So....as i mentioned i really wanted to try out Le Bistro, the French restaurant, and finally i managed. The cover charge there was a little higher, $20, but well worth it, the starters ranged from scallops to snails to soups to croquettes, while mains included rack of lamb, fillet, salmon, coq au vin and duck and desserts included chocolate napoleon (aka mille feuille), creme brullee and sorbet...as stated...that was not all..that is just what i remember.....and dinner was so good...loved it....but it's def a place where you go in smaller groups and not 6 of you......so of course i took pics...just to have a memory of the good food.....we also had Proseco which was great....very very good......so first we got some pate, 4 different types of bread and butter.....this was followed by our starters.....mine was the scallops (i love scallops so of course I had them but the snails and the croquettes really tempted me), mains i had yes....i think many can guess....the salmon which came
