As promised....TallinN....Estonia....this time there will not be a seperate food and cappuccino and sightseeing blog...why cause we were there for two days.....so where to start...I guess this time I could do chronologically.... Monday morning we took the ferry from Helsinki to Tallinn....we drove their in our own cars as we were taking them to TalliNn. The ferry was a short and pleasant ride....we started off with a breakfast buffet which included strong coffee, gravalax, cottage cheese, rye bread with egg butter and more gravalax and more gravalax....that gravalax is so damn good.....after that....we took a seat in the front of the ferry where there is a huge window so we could see our ferry ride..... Arrival in TalliNn we went to our hotel Barons in the old town....what a great location...we dropped luggage and then split...why...cause We thought 10 walking around the old town together would be too many...so Kim and I took little Sofia and made our way through the old town.... It i

Sofia's baptism

Image
Sofia's baptism was a truely special occasion....We decided to celebrate Sofia's baptism in Finland in the church where Kim's family are members....we thought that would be special....the priest would be the daughter of a very good friend of Kim's, so ot really made it very meaningful. Sunday the 13th September marked the special occasion....there was a lot of build up and everyone was very excited. The actual baptism ceremony was at 14:15 in the big church in Borgo. Rebecca met with us a couple of days before a discussed the arrangements of which hymns would be sung and which parts would be done in Swedish and which in English. The actual baptism was truely special, Rebecca did an amazing job and we received compliments from everyone, what a beautiful ceremony it was. We even received a lottle booklet with all the songs and hymns as well as a seperate booklet which states the Godparents, parents, date of the baptism as well as the the priest's name. The dress

Finland

So...what else other than cappuccino did we do in Finland...we ate and we celebrated Sofia's baptism...now let's first talk about some food items and then we chat about the baptism....(in the next blog). I have already shared all the cake experiences...from the carrot cake at Cafe Rongo to the carrot cake, apple & hazelnut and cheesecake at Cafe Helmi to the Bulla in Helsinki....i even chatted about the spinach and ricotta quiche at Cafe Rongo...but I have not chatted about when we took Sandro, Fabienne and little Siena to Helsinki to try some typical food at the market place.... Here some extra info about the cinnamon bulla....known as Korvapuusti translates into "slapped ears" in English but they are essentially cinnamon buns. And while Finland doesn’t hold a patent on cinnamon buns, they might seriously make the best. Usually eaten with a cup of coffee (Finns consume more coffee and perhaps more cinnamon buns than any other European nation), it is difficult to

Cappuccino in Finland

So...as you all know I always write my opinion about cappuccinos in the various places, now we are in Finland and hence it is time for me to share the Finland cappuccino experience with you.... While we are here we are staying with Kim's parents in Borgo....so of course we have been trying some coffee places here....now we have a pram with us, so we needed some places that we could easily enter with a pram...yes, the option is to leave the pram outside but if Sofia is sleeping it is nicer if we can bring the pram inside....so let me share some experiences....cafe Rongo...it is in the newer area of town....we entered and the first time we went there Kim and I thought we wanted to try something savoury, so we had a spinach and feta quiche which comes with a small salad...of course we also ordered cappuccino....and yes...the size was perfect, the thickness of the foam was great, strength of the coffee also great...just one little opinion....would have been nice with a little bit more

Italia......mangare

Image
Mangare.....to eat.....of course i am talking Italy....you might think why "of course"....well i love Italian food and thats the one kitchen i cannot get sick and tired of.....if i had to choose only one kitchen/ food for the rest of my life....it would be Italian....i think that says a lot... So....first day we arrived....Thursday....we had lunch in Montepulciano....it was pretty much the first restaurant we saw when we entered the old town....it also has a salami shop and a wine shop that belongs to it....kim and dad had the special....tagliatelle carbonara with asparagus....they loved it....mom and me shared the caprese and proscuitto e melone....very nice...unfortunately i did not take any pics cause we were so damn hungry.... The table behind us must have ordered bistecca fiorentina cause suddenly the waiter brought out three vacuum packed bisteccas and allowed them to choose...our mouths started to drool.....so guess what...one evening we ended up going back there.....
