Franschhoek....part one.....

So....been a while since i have been in Cape Town....and of course Franschhoek......so....seeing that Kim has never been to SA....i thought it would be nice to show him....so off we went....bloody early flight at 8am from OR Tambo....so yes....u guessed...we left at 6:15.....and yes..of course....at the airport....Vide e cappuccino....so good.....arrival in Cape Town....hire a car.....Kia Piccanto....and time to show Kim Cape Town a little....we drove past the university.....and then headed towards the waterfront cause our stomachs screamed hunger......the weather wasnt too bad....sunny.....so outside lunch was a definite choice.....good food.....of course.....here is a pic of the haloumi, prawn and avo salad....And yes....good wine....

After that, time to enjoy some view over Cape Town....and no....not Table Mountain BUT Signal Hill....love it up there....then yes....showed Kim Camps Bay and Clifton...of course....again An area one needs to see while in Cape Town...ended with Long Street....then it was time to head for Franschhoek....by now it was 4.... So spent a good day exploring Cape Town.....here some more pics....

The guest house....perfecto....dead centre....great cottage....couldnt ask for more....evening started with some cheese and wine and then headed for dinner....Grillroom....yummy....Kim tried some Springbok....must admit was good....me..calamari...yes its a steak house....but so what.....and dessert.....apple tarte tatin and rum & raisin ice cream.....good....little too sweet....wine...Eikehof....excellento....and did you know...its an SA wine but produced by Swiss people (ok, useless fact but who cares)..... Some food pics.....im getting hungry just looking at them again.....

Next day....wine tasting...wine tasting....and more wine tasting...with some cheese in between....yes...took a stroll through Franschhoek...slightly drizzling but not bad at all.....then headed to Haute Cabriere......amazing...then again i am a sucker for light wines and bubbly.....and the cellar was so nice....really enjoyed it....next was Kims choice....hmmmm....lets not go there....place Called Stoney Brook.....and lets just say...not worth writing about....dont go.....then time to have lunch....they managed to Pour a lot of wine at the tasting...like half a glass of bubbly....so food....definitely....and yes....of course...the cotage fromage......loved it....cannot go wrong there at all...and the best part for the cheese platter, you can choose your own five cheeses.....emmenthal, raclette, blue, brie and camembert.....and lots of bread and condiments...and NO cheese is not the only thing they have....for those of you who are not cheese lovers.....there are other things on the menu....here is a pic of the deli and the cheese platter....And one of me at Haute Cabriere.....

So enough writing for today....next blog....our afternoon wine tasting...interesting restaurant selection....actually interesting HOW we managed to select and the last day in Cape Town....cheers....
