Cebu......
Arrival....late....well late if you consider that we have not had dinner....so i was starving....tonight would be an italian restaurant, fabienne really wanted To know what i thought of the pizza....cause the base is really thin and the crust is blown up and gooey....sounds interesting....so we met sandro, my sisters fiance, at the italian restaurant.....tavolata.....first some starters....my mom and i shared a parma ham platter and my sis and sandro shared a parmesan soup.....great starters....loved it....mains we shared pizzas and pastas....the mozzarella was fiore di latte....so bonus points for that....love it when they use fresh mozzarella as opposed to pizza mozzarella.....and yes....pizza was very good....totally different to an all thin crust...but i have to admit....i loved the crust...ate it by dipping it into some garlic olive oil and of course a hill of salt....sandro is shocked how much salt i munch...but i have a deal...when getting back onto ship....no salt....no butter....no cheese other than fresh mozzarella......and i know i can do it.....hmmmmm.....here some pics.....
The next two days were spent running errands with my sis, trying to find shoes....VERY unsuccessful...and eating...eating and more eating.....from salads to cakes to crepes to Philippino food to mexican....i must say....the food has been great...the only thing....my mom and i shared a salad and damn....not gonna let her choose again...def wrong choice.....some creamy sweet dressing and salad had mango and cashews and apple....so not MY salad AT ALL.....oh well.....now to my best....the Philippino restaurant.....here is a pic of the nAme and my sister and me......
So....now to the actual food.....sandro and fabienne ordered all...and they thought they ordered way too much....well....lets just say there were hardly any left oveRs......they ordered sinigang (tamarin prawn soup), green mango salad, deep fried baby shrimp (head, eyes and all), sisig (dish that looked like mince, made from pork ears and cheeks), some spicy veggies in coconut, crispy pork, ceviche and calamari....man food was so good....funny enough the pork "mince" and the deep fried shrimps were my favourite....app. the pork "mince" is so fatty that u should eat it max once a month....but food was great...here some pics
Desserts we tried two local ones...and i must say...those i did noT like.....the purple one....called halo-halo was uwe ice cream with cornflakes, corn and beans (yes, sounds gross and it was, sorry) and second one Called biko was some rice dessert, very sticky, app. its supposed to be brown and crispy but it wasnt, anyway, too sweet...and we all know im not a dessert person.....
so.....tomorrow we are going on a whole day boat thing...middle of the ocean to a sandbank (on low tide) and then ill also tell u about some random philippine things i have seen.....One very intersting thing...at the mexican That we went for dinner...when you order a tequila shot (which of course we did...they had like 70 to choose from), you get a shot of tomato juice with it...strange...but actually nice.....
