Arts on Main and Prime Circle

So.....lazy SundAy....bored......hmmm...when u actually make an effort to look...there is a hell of A lot to do...so Sunday Liezl fetched me at 10... And off we drove towards town...actually right into town...to a market/art place called Arts on Main....amazing.....

Wow...food stalls from chilli jams to paella to sugar free chocolate to wine to fruit "flower" arrangements and teas.....wow....just nice to have variety...not huge...but cosy and nice...here is a pic....


this is not where it ends...lots of small art gallery type stalls/shops and some clothes shops...hippy clothes...so...no...not my style...but still loved it...we walked around and because Liezl had been thEre she was the mOst amazing guide....there was a photo exhibition type stall....the story....they started with a guy giving disposale cameras to youngsters in Jhb city...they had to take inspiring pics...the most amazing pics are now printed on canvas and being sold.....what a community project....

ANother project that really inspired me....children draw pictures of characters...invented ones...then the good drawings get made into actual fabric dolls and them they sell them...the child also gives the doll a name...the proceeds then go back to the foundation...really inspiring....

So...liezl and i, of course, tried all the food stalls...then decided to grab something to eat...she had a veggie burger with some peanut sauce...veggie burger made from lentils, chickpeas etc and i had some asian starter things...springrolls...tempura things....very yummy....here is a pic Liezl took....she has skills....

AfterwardS time for looking at some of the more arty areas and time for some wine tasting...just one wine stand...there were 4 wines..called the Robin Hood wines...and the 4 wines all were characters from Robin Hood...there was a rose, Savignon blanc, red and a dessert wine...i liked the box and idea behind the four wines... clever....

Then...time to chill...glass of wine and rooftop sun....so relaxing...wot a nice idea for a Sunday...open on Sunday until about 4pm....

While sitting and chilling Liezl saw that Prime Circle had an unplugged concert at the Venue at Melrose....so off we went into Computicket....handy to have an iPhone and we booked tickets...starts at 7 for about an hr....so yes...after the market....quick change of clothes at home, grab something to eat...and off to Prime Circle.....there were 4 of us...what a cool concert.....

The lead singer has a great sense of humour...and he explained the inspiration behind most of the songs....was really nice...and it was intimate...great venue...great way to end a Sunday evening...afterwards some coffee a JB Rivers...what a nice day...thanx Liezl for organising...has been a hell of a lot of fun....

So....here is a question....who remembers me saying sometime while on the ship.....one day....while in Santorini that i just got some amazing news....a big surprise....but i said that i will only tell at a later stage....well the time has arrived...most amazing surprise i got on that day in Santorini....Kim booked a ticket to come visit me in SA...and guess what...he is arriving tomorrow....cannot wait....wot an amazing surprise.....

Wedding time.....my baby sister's wedding

Oh my word....my sister, who wanted to be a nun (inspired by the movie Sister Act), is getting married....and to a guy that suites her perfectly.....we started getting reAdy around lunch time...make up artist, Victor Ortega, was flown in from Manila. He did my sister's, my mom's and my makeup....but now a few steps back...this wedding pre- celebration started on Wednesday night with a Swiss family dinner, Thursday night a pub crawl and Friday night a close family (Aboitiz and Bucher) at a Spanish tapas place (where the food was amazing...first time i tried nero paella)....but to the pub crawl we get later..... Another cruise in Western Caribbean

This is the second week....we started the journey in Tampa and this Tampa we decided to take Sofia to the aquarium...I was quite interested to see whether she would be fascinated with the fishes or not....and she was....certain ones...certain ones not too much....but she definitely enjoyed going there. The aquarium had 8 sections: Wetlands Trail, Journey to Madagascar, Bays & Beaches, No Bone Zone, Coral Reefs, Dragons Down Under, Ocean Commotion and Splash Pad. We visited all except for the Splash Pad (that is outside for the kids to play and it was closed at the moment). It was nice also because there were areas where you could touch the sting rays...I enjoyed that, Sofia did not want to touch them, and nor did Kim. First few days in our new home- Dallas TX

So we have arrived in Texas....yay for us....and we have been doing quite a lot...so yes, we have been keeping busy. We arrived on Friday 23rd June in the afternoon at 2pm....after doing immigration, we went to the hotel, dropped off the luggage, literally, and went to fetch our new car....a white Jeep Cherokee....it is so nice....we are soooo excited to have it...beautiful...have a look.... Sofia in the Jeep Kim and the Jeep Cherokee Friday night we had some Sushi take-aways because Sofia was jet lagged, and so were we, so we did not make it to a restaurant with her.  Saturday there was also quite a few admin things to get done...but it was a rainy day....it rained almost the whole day...so we got a bit wet, but it is warm rain......so never mind.
