First few days in our new home- Dallas TX

So we have arrived in Texas....yay for us....and we have been doing quite a lot...so yes, we have been keeping busy. We arrived on Friday 23rd June in the afternoon at 2pm....after doing immigration, we went to the hotel, dropped off the luggage, literally, and went to fetch our new car....a white Jeep Cherokee....it is so nice....we are soooo excited to have it...beautiful...have a look....

Friday night we had some Sushi take-aways because Sofia was jet lagged, and so were we, so we did not make it to a restaurant with her.

Saturday there was also quite a few admin things to get done...but it was a rainy day....it rained almost the whole day...so we got a bit wet, but it is warm rain......so never mind. We started off by driving past our new home (could not go inside as the current owners were packing up) and then we made our way to McKinney where we have a friend who has been so kind to receive and store all of our post, and yes, there was a pile of post for us....then I wanted to show Kim downtown McKinney. Walter showed it to us last time but Kim was not with us and hence he has not seen it...so off we went...we checked out the various stores...beautiful gift stores and decor stores...really nice, then we went to the mom and pop"corn" shop where we bought a McKinney flavored popcorn (sweet and savoury, spicy and caramel)....yes, it sounds rather odd...but all three of us, including Sofia, could not get enough of it...as we were exploring we saw this HUGE dog.....and of course Sofia was like "Wau Wau" and so Kim and her went and touched the dog...the reason I mention this is because the owner actually has a fb page about his dog and the dog is quite famous...have a look at this...

We also had lunch in McKinney at this place called Harvest...what a cool place...the setting was amazing...the chairs outside were swings and lazy chairs and it was all done in an "organic farm" style. The waiter then told us that their menu was seasonal because they try to source all their food from their own farm...how amazing. I had a glass of local Texas bubbly to celebrate the occasion. For food we tried the forrest salad, skirt steak with egg and chips and the chicken tenders with chips and homemade ketchup (and it tasted very fresh and homemade)....and guess what, not only was the food beautifully presented, it also tasted amazing...yes, we would definitely go back there...let me share some pics...

Saturday night...pic-nic at the hotel because Sofia was sleepy at around 5:30pm....tomorrow the plan was to check out some furniture shops, buy a potty for Sofia, then Home Depot for washing machine and tumble dryer and of course collect my dad from the airport at 4pm. And not to forget....I wanted to have a Starbucks coffee and check out some playgrounds for Sofia.....so in the morning we purchased the washing machine and tumble dryer at Home Depot and then we took Sofia to a park in Southlake which of course she loved. Then it was time for Starbucks...cappuccino and some pumpkin loaf (AMAZING) and then Costco where Sofia and Kim tried all the various goodies and then at the end it was hotdog time....let me share some pics...

During the time Sofia slept in the car, Kim and I checked out some pull-out sofa beds....after Sofia's nap we decided to check out the playground in the Colleyville park...and we were amazed, the jungle gym was amazing and just around the corner is a mini-acqua park....and of course Sofia wanted to play in it....and she LOVED it....we will definitely come here more often...let me share some pics...

That night...after fetching dad at the airpot we decided to do an early dinner just down the road from the hotel...a place called Craft...the men had craft beer and I had a glass of Chardonnay and for food dad had the fish and chips...Sofia had mac & cheese with chips and Kim and I shared the seared Ahi Tuna with a cucumber salad and the pulled pork with tacos....and all the food was actually very good...especially the chips and the Ahi Tuna...have a look at the pics...

So yes, as you can see we have been having a few good days...been managing to get some things done and tomorrow we will go and transfer the money for our new house and then go and sign for the new house...exciting times ahead....ore to come...for now cheers from me.
