Leone in Bagno Vignoni

Yes, we have been there before, and it is quite a nice little place also very nice for Sofia to roam while we are eating. They are really nice and friendly there and really love when locals come and not only tourists (yes, they know that we are locals and in fact they know is there). Of course when you come and and you get greeted like locals and by name....it really means a lot...hahaha.

Today we were a little bit unlucky because the night before they had a big wedding from an Irish family (drank a lot and they were up until 4am). At 10am they had to open again and had run out of quite a lot of ingredients...hence...the normal menu was all available...but no specials...and that is a pity because the menu is not very big and not the most exciting...food is good...people are friendly and that is why we go....also because it is easy with Sofia....

Anyway....no specials....but.....anyway....so for starters we shared the caniglio (rabbit) stuffed with herbs and porchetta. It was very different...not what i expected at all...in fact it was cold...it was good...but i do not think i would order it again. We also had the zucchini flowers stuffed with ricotta and pomodoro sauce....good...but i would add another cheese...ricotto is not too flavoursome and it needed some oompf....beautifully presented though...and great portion sizes...let me share some pics....

For mains....kim and dad both had the lamb with roasted potatoes, Mutti had a side order of roasted potatoes, mom had the home-made pasta with asparagus and i had the steak tartar....let me share some pics....then the verdict....
Lamb
Home-made pasta with asparagus
Steak tartar
Lamb: according to Kim and dad...it was one of the best lamb they had in a very long time....it was very delicious...the roasted potatoes also great but they could have given a little bit more. The home-maDe pasta with asparagus....great flavour but the pasta should have been a little bit thinner, it was too thick. Steak tartar....i needed to add extra salt...but the idea of anchovie sauce on the side....great...but i would have prefered more because it was so yummie....definitely too little....but beautifully presented all the food...we all enjoyed the food...but definitely not cheap. Will we go back, yes, we will, great service, great venue for Sofia and the food is great (although the menu small).
We decided to give dessert a skip because we all wanted to stop in Pienza for an ice-cream. Of course kim and i shared the pistaccio and the amarena and dad took amarena....they always know us...even if we do not go there all the time...in fact we have not been there in about 10 weeks because kim was on the ship....but they still recognised us....how nice. So now...enough about all this food...i am getting hungry....so off i go...cheers.
