Now...chestnuts.....there are many things that can be done with them....they ones i knew best before Corsica was roasting them around Christmas time and "Vermicelle" which is a dessert...let me share some pics so that you can imagine.

But in Corsica....i got to try new chestnut flavoured things....let me start....chestnut tarte, that we tried in Evisa....remember with the vanilla sauce....delicious, and moister than expected....in fact it is a typical dessert for Corsica, let me share a pic again...just to remind you.

Crepes, we all know crepes are very french, but normally with sucre (sugar). In Corsica it is very common that you see them with chataigne, chestnut sauce and also whole roasted, in syrup chestnuts....delicious...i absoloutely loved it....and yes, i know i have already shared a pic...but ill share again....

Biscuits.....when we went to buy some sparkling water i saw these typical Corsican biscuits...numerous flavours including vin blanc, chataigne, anis, almond, figs and nuts....of course i had to buy the chestnut and the vin blanc....now that i have tried, the vin blanc win...but the chestnuts we also very good, not very strong flavoured....but the vin blanc i would most definitely buy again....absoloutely amazing...let me share a pic...

Chestnut Canistrelli
Chestnut ice-cream....also widely available, not very strong in taste, it was ok...but nothing i would run back to...but definitely nice to have tried this....

Chestnut nougat.....of course there was also almond, nuts etc....but of course the chestnut was a new flavour. I am not a huge nougat fan so i am a little bit bias. It was ok, but nothing for me to rave about and i do not think i would buy it again.....

And now....last but not least, the chestnut flan, it is similar to a creme caramel....it was ok....i do no think i would order it again....time to share this pic again....just in case you have forgotten....

Now....i guess i need to tell you which was my favourite.....and my favourite....drum roll.....the crepe chataigne....hands down...if i would have had to compare to the canistrelli vin blanc, then it would have been a a close call.....i know totally different...but both very very yummie...but i do have to say one thing...i still LOVE the good old roasted chestnuts.....especially when you buy them in the streets....in those newspaper bags....yummie...it brings back so many childhood memories....hahaha, vermicelle...no thank you for me. Let me share a pic of the roasted ones...a maroni stand

Ok...this concludes my chestnut blog....almost....what i did not get to try was the chestnut liquor...i am a little bit upset about it....the aperitivo and the digestif....but i guess i will just have to leave something for next time....now time for bed though...so goodnight from me.
