Ajacco

Round trip to Ajacco....we would drive from Calcatoggio to Ajacco and then back to Calcatoggio again.....but slighly different routes. Ajacco is the capital city of Corsica and hence it is a little bit bigger, also a lot more commercial. This is is the city where Napoleon was born...so there is his house which has been turned into a museum that you can visit....however, Kim and i just missed the entrance time and we did not want to wait for the opening in the afternoon.....but let's start from the beginning. On the way there we went the fastest route which was over the mountains. Arrival there inwas so excited to see the market.....its full of cheese and charcuterie stands....and some fruits and vegetables...so down my line....hahaha. Of course we tried the cheeses...the brebis and the chevre....and they were just amazing...and the various cold cuts...sausages, salami and lonzu...all very very yummie....let me share some pics of the market....

After that....we made our way to Napoleon's house and then the main square where there is a statue dedicated to Napoleon....

After that we thought it was time for an aperitivo.....so Kim tried the Corsican beer Serena (the Pietra he has had before) whilst i tried one of the typical aperitivo called Cap Corse...a rather strange taste...a little sweet...thickish....something between a red wine with herbs and port....served best with ice...let me share some pics....

After that it was time to find a small lunch spot....and this time i wanted to have some crepes. Kim was not very hungry cause he decided to have a big breakfast....so we found this creperie....with the name dole vita....so we thought...that is it...we sit there...small and cute. I decided i would order the chestnut crepe (chataigne). It was sooooooo yummie....big chestnut pieces and syrup and just so wow.....kim of course tried a bite and was very jealous....yummie....let me share some pics...

We enjoyed around 3hrs in Ajacco before we decided to head back to the hotel....but first....we needed to stop at a winery to try some Ajacco wine...cause we all know that is another region. So we went to a winery called Comte Peraldi. We tried their two rose and one red....the main reason for choosing the 2014 rd was because it was available in a Magnum bottle with a tube....and that looked rather cool....we ended up buying one rose and one Magnum 2014....it is still a little acidic and the lady informed us that we should leave it a while before drinking it. It just managed to fit into one of the bike bags....hahaha.

Yes, after that scenic route back to the hotel....where we relaxed, took a swim and just caught up on some reading time. Later we went to the other restaurant on the beach close to our hotel called Le Malibu. It was also right on the beach front, we enjoyed an aperitivo...Kim a Pietra beer and me a Muscato....which is a sweet wine made in the north of the island....normally drunk as an aperitivo. For food....again...we decided to head straight for mains and rather have some dessert. Kim had the mussels the traditional way which is with white wine and onions and of course comes with french fries (typical French) and i had the fish salad with citrus segments...all this accompanied with some rose.....another great meal....dessert....do you really have to ask...because i think we all know....the cheese platter with fig preservative.....brebis and goat cheese....delicious...time to share some pics....

I am sorry....no oic of the cheese platter....but i do have a picture the another beautiful sunset.....after that i will leave you for a bit because we are off for some more exploring....so from me cheers....tomorrow we take a trip to central Corsica specifically we will make our way to Vico and Evisa.
