Vico and Evisa

As promised....another roundtrip from Calcatoggio through Vico then to Evisa for lunch and then back through Marignana to Cristinacce down to Sagone and back along the coast to Calcatoggio.....this was our day trip. Our first stop was a winery called Clos d'Alzeto....we saw a sign and decided to pop in....i tried a rose and kim tried a red...both Ajacco region and we decided to buy a small 50cl bottle of the rose, i must say the wines have been surprisingly good....unexpected. The guy that was in the shop doing the tasting explained to us that they also have grapes in the Patriomonio region and they are one of the three oldest wineries in Corsica....very exciting i thought. A beautiful cellar where we could see some barrels and some of the equipment where they fill the wine....let me share a pic....

Our next stop was Vico...again...an unexpected mountain village...feauturing quite a few cafe/ bars and restaurants....we however were not hungry (as we both induldged in too many beignets at breakfast...let me actually share a picture of these beignets filled with liquid chocolate. A beignet could be described as a small very soft round doughnut.)

Anyway...moving on....we had a coffee in Vico and then moved on. I will write one blog of all the typical corsica things...and then i will tell you about my cappuccino experiences. Anyway....time to make our way to Evisa where we would do our lunch stop. Again...beautiful scenery everywhere but the weather was not great so i did not take too many pics...in fact at one stage we had 14 degrees and rain....and guess what...we did not pack raingear....oh well....though luck. I do have a few pics though that i can share....

Lunch we chose a little place called Franella. Again....Evisa surpised us....there were about 10 places to choose from for lunch...quite amazing....we chose this one cause we read some reviews and they sounded good....and the place looked busy....we sat down and ordered a glass of the house rose and then veau du Corse....which we all know is the veal stew with the olives....and french fries....we needed something warm because we were a little bit cold......it was very yummie...again...the veal was just falling apart. For dessert, a cheese platter and a chestnut tart....one of the typical sweet desserts....and yes....both were amazing...the cheese was one brebis and one goat served with fig jam and the cake was moist and the chestnut was not overpowering, served with vanilla sauce on the side....yummmie....now time to share some pics...

After that we made our way through Marignana to Cristinacce down to Sagone and back along the coast back to Calcatoggio. We encountered some pigs in the middle of the road in Cristinacce....but this was not the first time we had encountered animals....also goats and cows are quite common...let me share a pic of the pigs...

In Sagone we decided to stop at the Spar and buy some food for the evening, we thought we had a big/ late lunch and back in the hotel we have a nice terrace and some wine....relaxed evening without having to go anywhere. We bought some cooked ham, some local salami sausage and a melon....yummie. Back at the hotel we enjoyed some pool time (weather had improved) and then an aperitivo, Muscat for me and Cap Corse for Kim before we made our way to our room around 8pm where we enjoyed our dinner and some rose wine. Let me share a pic of our aperitivo.

That concludes my Vico and Evisa blog cause i am sorry but i did not take a pic of our food platter on the terrace...so cheers...chat tomorrow.
