Split....Croatia

As promised.....Split....Croatia...the three os us left the ship around 9:30...walked into the old town and strolled the city a little bit....a lot of it is car free which is fabulous. There was also quite a big markets selling clothes and fruits and vegetables....actually quite a nice atmposphere and some nice baby clothes. Of course there was also a cappuccino needed. We sat down in one of the squares and ordered two cappuccini. When we ordered i saw this beautiful apple struddle going to a table near us....so i had to call the waiter and ask what that was..he said it was their sweet breakfast consisting of a cappuccini, orange juice and an apple struddle....kim and i changed our minds and said we wanted one of those....and guess what....it was so worth it....beautifully presented and so damn yummie. The place was called NoStress.

After that....some more strolling and then Sofia decided to take a nap...so we thought, we sit down again and actually have an aperitivo and enjoy some us time....we chose a bar on the promenade and kim had a local beer and i had an aperol spritz....very enjoyable...and actually much better prices there than in the old town square, in fact quite a big price difference, i was quite shocked. Anyway, we enjoyed the coffee and apple struddle so it was worth it.

Lunch we walked all the way to the other side of the old town near the beaches. We were recommended a taverna for lunch by the staff captain onboa who is from Split, the place was called House of Vidjac. Guess what...it was a great recommendation. For starters kim wanted to share a seafood soup...this i was not too excited about...but i thought....if he wants...i would compromise. The soup for me was too creamy...and too lottle seafood...it was not bad, just not what we expected. Let me share a pic....

For mains, i took the anchovies and the octopus salad and kim tried the squid stew with potato dumplings...both were amazing. The octopus salad was my favourite...it was so refrehsing and divine...and really you did not have to look for the octopus..it literally was just octopus and some chopped onions...just divine. Let me share some pics....

Dessert....definitely no space. We slowly made our way back, past the beaches, which in fact look very nice and are just 5min from the ship, so next time, that is the plan with Sofia...enjoy an hour or two on the beach with her.

We had such a nice day out, a nice last day before leaving in Venice tomorrow. Split is definitely worth a visit, i think it is very beautiful and there is something for everyone. From me cheers...next blog will be back home...not on the ship...so cheers.
