First cruise- part II

As promised....more Greek Islands...i ended the last with Corfu...so next day was Santorini. Mom, dad, Mutti and Lisa decided to go out when the open tender started and have some dinner out. Kim, Sofia and i decided to stay onboard and enjoy the deck a little bit. Dinner at the Garde Cafe....casual and yummie.

Mykonos was the next day and Kim, Sofia and I stayed onboard because we had some friends who were visiting us for lunch. It was nice to catch up with them a little bit....had a nice lunch out in Garden Cafe, enjoying the sunshine. The rest of the clan enjoyed a lunch in Mykonos. They came back saying that Mykonos is just so much nicer than Santorini. They believe the shops are nicer and the atmosphere. In fact, i could not agree with them more. In the evening we all did a dinner together, this time in the Asian Jasmine restaurant. Starters, most of us had the vegetarian spring rolls which are always a firm favourite, they are crispy, filled with veggies, just yummie. For mains, Mutti, Lisa and dad went for the warm Asian kitchen and Kim, mom and me decided on sushi and sashimi....cause as you know, i just think the sushi and sashimi onboard is phenomenal. We had a mixed sashimi platter, a dragon roll and a volcano roll...and guess what...this time i have pictures of them all....

The dragon roll is done with eel and avo on top, and it looks like a dragon, i just think the presentation is very beautiful. The volcano roll was deep fried on the outside with cooked salmon and avo inside....it was surrounded by crispy, deep fried pieces of crab....just outstanding. In fact, everyone loved their food. For dessert Kim had some green tea ice-cream and he convinced my dad to have, which he really did not want....BUT....drum roll....when he tried it....he suddenly did not want to share anymore cause he loved it...hahaha. We also ordered a five spice cake to share which looks tiny, but it is perfect size cause it is rich. I liked it, but i did not love it.....let me share some pics....

Katakolon: today the pilot invited the whole family to his new hotel for lunch, the hotel has incredible views over the bay...very stunning. The food...he said we should let him surprise us.....and we were not disappointed....it was outstanding...the only thing we missed was the octopus, but he did mentioned that they only just opened the hotel restaurant and the menu was still small...but nevermind....it was a wonderful lunch consisting of olives, various dips (one tzaziki and one beetroot), Greek salad, deep fried halloumi and these spinach and feta stuffed pies...yummie...and of course not to forget the best...the yummie olive oil served with fresh bread.....all accompanied by a light, Greek white wine...let me share some pics....

After lunch, we visited his daughter's little shop in the centre of Katakolon, we purchased various goodies including marmalades and olive oil. We also enjoyed two typical Greek desserts....don't ask me about their names....
Greek desserts
The cookies you could hardly pick up cause they just crumbled, yummie. The cake was almost like a sponge cake, but so damn good, we all fought for a piece. So we ended up getting another one. After all there were six of us and Sofia sharing....a yummie lunch out, what a treat. The little shop in Katakolon also serves food, in fact, that used to be the pilot's place where Kim and i always ate the famous octopus. So, if you are ever in Katakolon, do not miss out on this place....yummie food guaranteed. The evening was a quite relaxed evening for us with some dinner at Garden cafe....It was grill night, so i ended up having grilled salmon and grilled prawns...and grilled veggies...very delicious.
The cruise is almost finished...last sea day and then back to Venice, so of course we had a dinner all together and we decided on Cagney's steakhouse.....starters varied from beef short ribs (off the bone) to shrimp cocktail and chicken drumsticks. Mains....the four ladies all had lobster and the men had meat. The lobster is just fabulous, it just comes out from the shell, really really yummie...dessert....apple crumble, raspberry creme brullee and macadonia nut ice-cream sandwich....the best....apple crumble...in my opinion...hahaha....

Kim, Sofia and I
We had such a nice cruise all together, everyone really enjoyed and managed to relax. The weather also was great, so it was perfetto. Next week's cruise would be a charter, so unfortunately when we arrived in Venice Kim could not join us for a coffee and pastry outside. So Lisa, mom, dad, Mutti, Sofia and I went for a nice cappuccino and pastry (an apple and rasin crumble for me). I did bring home a take-away for Kim though, his favourite almond marzipan cake.....let me share some pics...

The almond/ marzipan cake on the right (the one on the left, i need to try next time cause it looks very yummie)
The cappuccino is always very good, it is strong, the foam is thick and the cappuccino is the right size, so yes, this is definitely worth a visit. Kim and i always go there, hence i thought i would take the rest of the gang there. Kim also loved his surpise cake when i came back onboard. Sofia and i would stay another 2 cruises. The rest of the gang was returning home...thank you all for a wonderful week...hope it will happend again....for now...cheers from me.
