Bagno Vignone
Osteria del Leone in Bagno Vignone....another new place which we tried out for lunch.....i had met the wife of the owner when we were invited at Buonconvento, so i was quite excited to try it. There are quite a few little spots in Bagno Vignone, so definitely worth visiting if you feel like a nice lunch outside (or inside, if you prefer). When we arrived, sadly, it was drizzling a little so we opted to seat inside.
Their menu looked interesting, some things on there that are not commonly seen on a menu which i always like, not always the usual suspects.
For starters a few of us were tempted by the ricotto stuffed zucchini flower presented on sugo di pomodori (tomato sauce). Dad opted for the tartar di chianina and Thomas opted for the melanzana with burrato cream.....all this was accompanied with three types of home-made bread, one with black-current, one with pumpkin and one plain.....they were all very delicious (contrary to what you might think, the black-current was NOT sweer).....i think time to share some pics....
All the pasta is hand-made which of course makes them extra delicious. For Mutti and Diana the pecorino cheese was a little bit too strong...it tasted a bit too much of sheep cheese, so they asked whether it was possible to change, and they were able to send it back without any problems, and a new dish was prepared for them without the cheese. I thought that was great, it was done without a headache, great service.
Dessert we thought we would get some ice creAm at a little cafe/ gelateria near by. We wanted to sit outside cause it had cleared up. Eating out at Osteria del Leone i would definitely recommend, was well worth the visit and yes, we will be back.
The ice-cream was also delicious....the main flavour that was tried was tiramisu....and even Sofia got to try and enjoy. Let me share a few more pics...
