Foodies in Italy

So....now....important....we all know...food....and coffee.....but coffee we have done...so now it is food....we soon found a big favourite in Lido di Jesolo...the name is....Al Torcio....the staff...and every single one of them...extremly friendly....the food delicious...and price/ quality/ amount perfecto...they of course started to recognise us there and loved having us....we felt welcome all the time.....let me share some pics of our favourites and a small explanation of why it was so good....

Parma ham with buffalo mozzarella

The parma ham....so damn thin...and not too much fat....buffalo mozzaralla just melting in your mouth...generous portion for an antipasti....and i must say...there was not one night we did not order such a starter cause it was so damn delicious..and one definitely cannot say parma ham is parma ham....it definitely is not...not just the taste/ quality...but one can also cut it too thick....so thin one...very very good....

Mussles with a tomato based sauce
What a portion....again an antipasti...this one was my dad's favourite...the sauce one could eat with the spoon, like a soup, simply delicious....great quality mussels....not too big...the too big ones i think are quite slimy...not these ones....
Spaghetti with fresh buffalo mozzarella and cherry tomatoes
A firm favourite for Mutti....portion size great...not too big...not too small...how it should be so that one has space for antipasti and for dessert...the real Italian way of eating numerous courses...
Pizza with shrimps, anchovies and roasted baby tomatoes
Pizza Italia (red: fresh cherry tomatoes, green:rocket and white:buffalo mozzarella)
Wow...wow...wow....10/10 for the one i had....i guess you can take three guesses which one i had....the Italia...so damn good...the dough perfect...crispy yet a little dough like....crispy, just wow...and i did have it twice, so it was consitently good...also the others who had pizza loved it....so yes...just wow...
Next up...some fish dishes...mom tried the seared tuna on a bed of rocket salad with roasted cherry tomatoes and zucchini.....very good...and i had the salmon (in fact i had it twice), it was seared...topped with a pistacchio crust and side of beetroot puree....it was yummie...well i guess you knew that otherwise i would not have ordered it twice...hahaha.....

Salmon
So we tried....pasta...pizza....antipasti.....seafood....and also meat....milanese...veal, specifically...of course there are dishes that i did not add a pic of because i do not have space to add everything we ate....we also had carpaccio, oysters, spaghetti ragu...etc etc...i could go on and on......but last savoury pic from this place ill share with you....veal milanese....
Veal milanese
House wine
So....not quite food....but of course with a good meal there needs to be a good glass of wine.....whether it is red or frizzante....i guess now you know the difference between frizzante and spumante....hahaha....we always had the house wine....the ladies went for frizzante and men for red wine...just delicious...one could order 1/4 or 1/2 or 1L....mostly we started small and then ordered a second round....yummie....
Tiramisu

Also very good....and we are all fussy...it should not be dry, but there should also not be too much mascarpone...and this had a perfect combination. It was very yummie...that in fact one night, mom's birthday, we ended up ordering one of each of the desserts...the winners...above the tiramisu and below the crema catalana....

Crema catalana

And now...of course...the men needed grappa to end their meal...some evenings they were also on the house...as soon as they got to know us....let me share a pic...quite cool how it looked....

Grappa
You are probably thinking.....hmmmm....did they ever go to a different restaurant...and yes we did....we went to this one called Bucintoro....it was opposite our favourite one...it was ok....not great...but not bad.....we tried the mussels there....and the sauce was quite watery...the quality of the mussels was excellent...but the sauce was too watery....the ragu pasta was also slightly over-cooked....however, the seafood pasta was very good...not over-cooked...so consistency not quite 100%. The caprese was beautifully presented.....loved the skew cutting of the tomatoes.....and the tiramisu....i must admit...that was the best one we had...yes, even better than our favourite place....time to share some pics and make you even hungrier....

We also one night had dinner in Jesolo NOT Lido di Jesolo...it is about 10min drive...reason was that we fetched mom quite late from Venice airport and thought we would eat on the way home...we ate in this place called Drago Jesolo....di Labriola Pasquale....had some parma ham and mozzarella...pizza....and yes...it was also very delicious....the pizza was good...not as good as our favourite place though.....the dough not as great...ingredients yummie though....

Pizza special at Drago Jesolo
Al Bragantino is another one that i must mention....the food was rather delicious...in fact the pizza there was as good as our favourite....if i am honest...the dough even a little bit better....we had one with funghi and parma ham....just wow....the parma ham mozzarella also very good...a little too thickly cut...but it was good...what we thouroughly enjoyed the one night (yes, we were there more than once) was the seafood antipasti...which was all warm..ranging from scallops to prawns to octopus salad and mousse (the mousse was cold)....very delicious...i do have a few pics which i can share....

Buffalo mozzarella and parma ham
What dissappointed me a little was the fact that we were there twice and both times they did not have tiramisu...i really wanted to try to compare, and to not have it once...that is acceptable but to not have it twice...that was dissappointing....
Last but not least i will mention our aperitifo place...called Opera...and often mom and i would have our aperitifo there....Aperol Spritz...and we ordered a platter of parma ham....it came with some bread sticks and was beautifully presented and also nicely cut...hence we had it a few times....let me share a pic with you...

So...i can honestly say...bad...we never ate...we prefered some places to others, but i guess that is natural...what is funny though is that we all liked the same place the best...second best...we had different opinions...all in all...the three weeks spent in Lido di Jesolo we ate damn good....yummie...my mouth is watering...time for some dessert for me now...right now....cake in Germany.....so cheers....
