Koper.....

So....last port for the repo was in fact Koper...the next day we would be in Venice....so..lets chat about Koper first though....lucia and i decided to explore Koper the tourist way....first we walked to the main square where we wanted to see the palace and the bell tower....so we figured out that for €5, we could get a guided tour through the palace (which is actually the only way to see the palace) and get to go up the bell tower....first it was bell tower time....and many many stairs...so lucia and i made our way to the top and the view was def worth the climb.....here some pics...

So the pic above..on the left...that is the palace which we went to see afterwards....but before that we went to see the church of which the bell tower is a part...really beautiful inside and glad to have gone in...the main reason we went in was to kill some time before the official tour started...hahaha....

Yes, i did learn a few things at the guided tour...the most interesting...Koper has two ancient symbols...the sun (which there is no mythology), and the one picted below:

So here is the myth....the two Greek Gods.....God of the Sea, Poseidon, and Godess of Wisom, Athena, had a fight, of course she won, but in the battle she lost her shield....and the shield started to float in the sea....and onto that shield Koper was established.....interesting i thought....and then he showed us the ceilings..beautifully done...just so wow....have a look....and the chandelier made from Murano glass....cause you micht know, Slovenia is bordering on Italy...very close to Trieste and thus has an Italian, specifically Venetian influence.....

Then we went into the main hall and amazingly it is still used today for the town meetings which happen every first Thursday of the month...i just thought it was nice to see...and the tour was about 20min so def not too long...here a pic of the main hall...

After that Lucia and i took a stroll, and yes, of course i found the chocolate store...but then again...dont i always....hahaha....and wow....bought home-made choc....i had to really think what i wanted...difficult choices....here a pic...then i can explain....black choc with walnuts....olive oil choc and some truffles (pink one was champagne....was ok, then just a plain truffle, good and the big one was a walnut cream, nice....but none were wowey)....the chocs bar kim hid from me for next contract...so no verdict yet.....

So happy to have found a local choc shop...exciting...hahaha....just to try...they dont always have to be the best....okey dokey, lets move on....repo almost over...nice day out exploring things that i have not seen before....some more pics of Koper and with that im saying good-bye.....cheerio
