Athens

So....finally we had a Piraeus where i cold take kim out....no meetings planned....and i had 4.5hrs off...perfect...and not just for chilling in Piraeus....but actually taking the metro into Athens...i was so excited to show him the main area....not the Acropolis but the downtown main city centre....so we took the metro and got out at Minostriaki.....and as we got out we were welcomed by the fresh strawberry smell....man...i cannot wait for summer....but there is one big BUT....soon we are signing off, and back home in SA it is winter...hmmmm....but we are going to my sisters wedding in the far east......and there it is hot...so excited...and yes....i just blabbered..and all this because i saw strawberries in athens....back to athens, we took a stroll through the market and kim loved it....it was vibey, it was a saturday, and the market stalls are actually rather like shops and have some nice goodies...of course we spottet the local gyro man...and man it smelt good....so yes...a gyro it was.....here is a pic...

And u know what.....that gyro is the nest we have had...and so cheap...but so juicy and right amount of spices....amazing...then a further stroll through the main shopping street....ended up buying clothes...and no...not just me...we both did...and then of course a visit to a restaurant for some greek salad...and yes....cappuccino.....and again...i have to say this...the tomatoes....so full of flavour...i def think the tomatoes are so much better than in any other country...Greek tomatoes are just so divine...and that is no joke...if you ever go to Greece, do yourself a favour and order a Greek salad...just for the tomatoes (and the feta) and you will see...and the olive oil..tastes so fresh...just so wow....(i think im getting damn hungry writing about this...at least its almost lunch time....)....and of course i do have a pic

Last but not least i managed to spot a nut shop...and yes...we bought some nuts...but then the highlight was a small stall outside, selling these bread type things....so i had a closer look and i thought i was dreaming..this bread thing looked like it was filled with chocolate and sesame seeds sprinkled on top....and it only cost €2 and it was the size of an outstreched palm....hmmmm...so of course i had to ask...and yes, it was confirmed the bread goodie was indeed filled with choc...so yes....had to get one...man...wow....here is a pic...i think the pic tells a 1000 words.....

The bread was not dry.....it was crispy and yet soft...the choc was oozing out...cause i actually think it was Nutella...man...it was so damn good....but i have to be honest after the entire one...yes...felt like i had a little too much....but would i eat it again...no question...damn sure....hahaha.....so our day in Athens was very successful and very well spent.....before the metro we bought 1kg of strawberries for.......€1

So...whats next...let me give you some hints...next is the Repo cruise for which kims sister with kids and husband are joining and another couple...and then it is kim and my last cruise...so the 11th of may we sign off.....(as you can see im slightly behind in writing, thats because blogsby wouldnt allow me to upload any more photos, so i had to create a Picasa account....ok...ill stop....long story that might just bore you).....but next.....the last two cruises for this contract.....cheerio
