Coffee

According to Kim "Before i met Sandra, cappuccino was some coffee with some milk foam on top.....but since i have known Sandra i have learnt that a cappuccino in fact has 17 different layers"....hahaha...maybe not 17....but definitely a lot

So..what are they.....

1. Thick-ish foam

2. Lots of foam

3. Strong coffee

4. Not too much milk, a little bit less or same amount as coffee

5. Small-ish cup

6. Needs to be hot

7. Chocolate sprinkles on top

8. Bonus if there is a biscuit......(but it needs to be a good one)

So...7 must have's and one would be nice to have

Now....lets talk about the actual places.....in Bangkok I have tried Coffee World and Au Bon Pain.....here is a pic followed by explanation

First up...Coffee World

Coffee World

Cup size too big, 3x amount of milk to espresso (cup was filled to the rim) which then means not enough space for foam....thick-ish foam, but way too little....coffee strength could not be tasted as it was too milky....no sprinkles, but the decoration of the foam was nice...at least the little foam there was was thick-ish....there is some potential 3/5

Next up...Au bon pain

Au Bon Pain

So....ratio milk to espresso and foam just perfect.....foam was tick-ish which was great, there were chocolate sprinkles on top.....and it was strong coffee and right size cup.....the coffee was hot, so guess what i was happy.....i give it a 4/5.... Reason why it gets 4/5....i went there once and coffee was luke warm and also the foam could be a little bit more thick-ish.....but def will go back.....

So...now we can chat about Hong Kong...the chain we tried is called Pacific coffee.....

Ok....cup too big...coffee too weak..foam not thick enough (but at least not blow away)....loved the fact we could put on our own choc sprinkles from vanilla, to cinnamon and choc...this was the small size and i felt it was way too milky...so nope...not going back to that chain..verdict 2.5/5....pitty.....

Philippines this time i tried three different ones.....we tried a restaurant that is supposed to be a top Italian restaurant in the Philippines called Don Vito (in the Boracay)...hmmm...cause both the "authentic" Italian ice cream and the cappuccino were way below standard...and the coffee...shocking....i would give it 1.5/5, reason it does not get a one, cause at least it was not filter coffee.....foam, could almost blow away...coffee...just tasted milk....and they put cinnamon as sprinkles...that i really disslike....

Don Vito

Cafe del Sol Boracay.....

Cafe del Sol Boracay

Nice....3.5/5.....the foam was thick, the proportions were correct....however...no choc sprinkles and the coffee was too weak.....but a good effort.....and yes...there is a 5/5.....but not for the moment.....i will tell you about that another time....

Cafe France

Cafe France

Hmmmm....pictures might already give you the answer....foam...blow away...no choc sprinkles...not hot...way way too much milk...so all in all 2/5....sorry...not worth it....

So...when im back in South Africa, im gonna go through some local coffee shops and give you a post on that...and maybe i must once write a post on all the magnums...hmmm....that might be an idea...but next up will be the Boracay and definitely a blog on my sister's beautiful wedding...for now....goodnite.....
