Boracay.....food

Foooooood.....a favourite subject of mine...i think we all know that...so this blog is dedicated to food...and all the various food items we tried whilst in the Boracay...ill focus on the highlights so as not to do a never ending blog.....well let's start with breakfast which was at our amazing hotel the Asya Premier.....the breakfast a la carte menu was wide (buffet, i was not too impressed)....the one item that stood out to me was the European breakfast...the muesli with a soft boiled egg...presentation, i guess, is what made the biggest difference....very nice idea.....(soft boiled egg, Swiss Emmi yoghurt, muesli with fresh fruit and a glass of milk and honey)....ph yes...not to forget.....mango in the Philippines...is a MUSt try....

Snacks during the day rather than a full on lunch was the norm for us while we were ....then again...what would you expect...we only had breakfast around 11....so damn good to sleep in....my top three snacks....an ice cream called:

The flavours range from avocado, green tea, mango, cookie dough to Oreo....this is what it looks like:

Oreo muchi

When you get it, it is wrapped in a see-through plastic and gives you 3 easy steps to follow on how to best enjoy them.....keep frozen until consumed, let it thaw until it is slightly soft, then open the package and bite into the wrapping around it and inside is the ice cream (the wrapping is eatable....made of some type of dough)....we tried the chocolate one and the Oreo one...Oreo...amazing....cause at the bottom was a whole Oreo cookie....man so tasty...and something I have never seen before...so yes...i loved it....

Next up....another ice cream....at Halowich.....fresh mango ice cream with fresh mangos.....very delicious....definitely worth a try.....both places mentioned above can be found at D Mall in the Boracay (not really a mall....just lots of local shops in the sand...very cool)

And third snack..not last....the famous smoothies at Jonah's.....go there and try....i tried the avo and mango with no milk (and then you choose whether you want it in a bottle or a glass....what a nice idea)....i tried in a bottle...and the smoothie was fab...we also tried the peanut, banana and mocca (good) and kim did a bad choice by picking the banana and rum which mostly consisted of rum....so i would def NOT recommend that one...the avo and mango...divine though....and yes...i can share a pic...but before that....Jonah's can be found in Station 2, on the beach front near Willys rock.....

Mango and avocado smoothie

And dinner....highlights....freshly prepared seafood....we tried this restaurant called Paradiso Grill, right at the centre of D Mall, could sit on the beach to eat...fab....you could pick your fresh seafood and then they asked how you wanted it prepared, olive oil with salt, deep fried, grilled, steamed, garlic butter, chilli.....you name it..they can do it....in fact it was so good we went there twice....lobsters...prawns....crab....squid....pork belly (Sandro's choice...but actually nice), adobo squid (Filipino sauce).....the second time...guess what my dad and kim had.....you won't believe it...Vienna Schnitzel (and even that was good)....(there is many fresh seafood places, but some of our friends tried other and when we took them to Pardiso Grill they said that was way better....).....

Adobo squid

Pics prawns and fish on ice, schnitzel

And yes....we did end up one night going for Italian cause damn....i just wanted a nice carprese salad....and I got it....you name it they had it..and it was fab.....mango & parma ham, buffalo mozzarella Carprese, salade nicoise, carpaccio (octopus, tuna or beef)...pizza...pasta....etc etc.....pizza thin crust and cheese used on the pizza was great...only problem..and quite a problem, i thought, was that the mains did not arrive together, my dad had finished with the pasta when the last of the 4 pizzas arrived....i get it when its at a cafe type place, but this was an upmarket Italian...definitely should not happen...they were lucky that the food was so great.....almost forgot...the name of the Italian place is Caruso (there is another 2 Italian restaurants i would like to comment, Aria, apparently not so good, heard from some of the people that came to Caruso with us as well as my sister and now husband Sandro.....and Don Vito where Kim and I had ice cream and SHOCKING cappuccino...so i wouldn't try the food)

Carprese with buffalo mozzarella
Beef Carpaccio with rocket and parmesan shaving

So yes....the food in the Boracay was amazing....loved it....especially the seafood....could not get enough of it...and i recommend doing the prawns steamed (more tasty than grilled) with garlic butter....damn....im drooling just thinking/ writing about it.....
