One more Italian blog

This last Italian blog brings together some bits and pieces.....Some random things.....where to start....some foodies...in Montepulciano we found this really good restaurant called La Pentolaccia.....dad had already gone home, so it was just the three of us.....kim decided to have a cinghale stew (wildboar) and this time i managed to take a pic before he ate it all.....and mom and i shared a melon and parma ham and a buffalo caprese....it sounds funny, but it was amazing, the melon had so much taste, just wow...and the parma ham, although not thin thin, i have actually realised that i prefer it when it is cut slightly thicker......and the buffalo mozzarella amazing and tomatoes as red as blood and so juicy....yes, the food was damn good....we all truely loved our lunch....and guess what...it was cheap....we were very surprised about the price......

We also found this cute little cafe, looked very old english, was called la polizia....very old style furniture and cups, quite cool, but the prices...wow...they were high...we ended up paying €3.50 per cappuccino and normally they are around €1.50, but it was still worth....we each also had a chocolate truffle....and they were reasonable again....€0.50

Before kim and i travel you know we also do our research on food....so we knew other than cinghale, fiorentina and pecorino, we needed to find this soft almond biscuit called ricciarelli.....man they were so good...maybe they could have a little less castor sugar...but even with it....yummie...i loved them...of course there is a hint of marzipan taste cause of the almonds....

Also in Montepulciano we walked into this one tuscan food shop and there was a sign that they had a huge underground area...so of course we wanted to see....check this out.....

Underground
It just shows you that there is so much to discover and sometimes really in places that you did not expect...so keep your eyes open if you travel in Italy......actually probably everywhere....always hidden gems to discover.
What other arb things can i tell you....well...while driving around in our little Fiat 500, this time not a convertible, i spotted this cherry tree and i wanted kim to stop so that i could pick a few, unfortunately it was badly placed on a slope, so getting the cherries was not as easy as i hoped...kim and i really had to think quite hard in order to taste some cherries.....

Now lastly i am just going to share some random pics and write a sentence or two about them......The first one is kim and me outside a baby shop.....when we werE not sure whether we would be allowed to travel home and whether i would go into labour that week, we decided to take precaution and buy some very basics....and guess what i found....a beautiful diaper bag, which i actually had not bought in SA yet.....i love it.....

Montefiorelli
The above is a pic from a little village called Montefiorelli, it is 5min drive from Greve in Chianti. It seems like a half dead village, very very old, we walked around it and actually managed to find a quaint little restaurant where we had dinner.....it was yummie....we had some typical tuscan cold meats to start and then kim had the cinghale stew, dad the pappardelle cinghale and mom and i shared a burrato caprese and a pappardelle cinghale....was great...kim thought his stew could have been a little bIt more cooked, thus a little bit softer....

We bought fresh cold cuts, cheese and fruits...amazing a kilogram of cherries only €3,50....and they were so tasty....we even found little shoes and a a knitted hat for our little baby girl....very cute

Vignomaggio
What is so special about Vignomaggio....there are rumours that Mona Lisa was born at Vignomaggio....the room where she was born can be rented out to sleep over....must be quite a high price.....
While driving throug Chianti we spotted some Lamas
Arrezzo
One day we visisted Arrezzo...i have never been there....the old town is truely beautiful, it was sad though cause it was a Monday so most of the shops were closed...and there were quite a few which i would have liked to roam around in, but one shop i found.....an antique shop where i found copper pans and pots...that was a wish of mine to buy and take home and hang in our kitchen....and guess what...that is what kim and i did...we bought antique copper pans and pots.....i love them.....
