Schwarzwald.....Blackforrest

For me, a definite was to go and see part of the blackforrest....i know it is very big, hence we needed to narrow it down, ideally to an area which would be closer to us....so i did some research and i said to Kim that i wanted to go to Titisee.....around 40min from Radolfzell....given no traffic...but it was a public holiday so we hoped for the best.....

Titisee is a lake in the southern Black Forest in Baden-Württemberg. It is said it got its name from Roman Emperor Titus. It covers an area of 1.07 km² and has an average depth of 20 m.

The first thing for me was not about seeing the Titisee, but rather finding some arb side roads and actually drive into the forrest....so that is what we did, took a side road and voila, smack bang we were really inside the blackforrest.....of course i made kim stop the car so that i could also take some pics and enjoy the scenery and the smell of true fresh air, forrest smell.....time to share some pics....

The lanscape was very nice, also we travelled up some higher roads and saw small valleys.....

Driving around the Titisee area

Once at Titisee, the little area was buzzing with people, restaurants, souvenir shops, in general just a good vibe, people seem to come here for a day visit....kim and i went into the shops....of course wanting to try the Schwarzwaelder Schinken, it is a typical smoked blackforrest ham, very distinct in flavour and either you like it or you do not....i love it...and so did kim...so guess what, we bought 1,2kg to take home, of course vacuum packed....so damn delicious.

Then we strolled a little, i really wanted a blackforrest cake, but i entered a few backeries and somehow the look disappointed me, there was a thin layer of choc sponge cake, then a layer of the soaked cherries, then A LOT of cream, then some more sponge cake and then A LOT more cream, for me, way too much cream and not enough cherries, damn, i think i had something else in my head, more cherry layers and less cream, so at the end, kim and i opted for the typical sausage called Krakauer sausage with fried potatoes....damn...that was so good....we bought it at a small Imbiss, which is like a small stand where they make just a few dishes, very traditional, and honestly, mouth-watering yummie....and yes, of course i have pics that i can share....

Then time for something sweet....no, not the blackforrest cake, but what else is Germany famous for....apple struddle...so we went into a small restaurant with the intention of eating apple struddle and drinking cappuccino....of course we found our apple struddle, that is not very difficult, i found my cappuccino and kim even found Gluehwein, now that made me damn jealous, hot red wine infused with various spices such as cinammon, orange zest etc, that is so damn delicious, but of course out of bounds for me at the moment, at least i managed to get one sip.....The cappuccino was rather bad, foam was non existent but oh well, the apple struddle made up for it, it was divine, so many nuts and so damn good....wow...heavenly.

After our indulgence it was a short walk back to th car......looking at the view of Titisee again....and then heading back to Radolfzell.....

It was a good half day outing, and i would definitely go back, just for the sausage, hahaha, no in all seriousness, it is not far and worth a visit.....in my next blog ill chat about the last little visit in Germany, Meersburg and a little bit about Radolfzell.....so for now, cheers from me, chat soon.....
