Fire fighting prac

So finally the day has arrived that we have to do fire fighting practical....we had to dress in the total fire fighting gear, boots, pants, jacket, gloves, head scraf, hat, oxygen tank and mask.....wow....and in total i was in that thing from 1430 until 1730...... Man that oxygen tank was so heavy.....my back was killing me......so here is what we did.....during this very very long afternoon.....there is 9 of us doing this course and unfortunately some very eager beavers in the class and one very very slow person......so...First thing we did was have a tour through the engine room.....that was so cool....and so hot....but i loved it....very interesting to see and whne do you ever get the chance to go there......
Then off to the first real practical....a manual search for a person, they filled the entire gym with smoke so thick that you couldnt even see your own hand....then we had to go in teams of three and do a proper search how it is done in real life, was actually very cool, but i have never sweated so much, i was dying wearing the mask and breathing through the oxygen tank...was crazy....in the end i actually felt so claustrophobic....i was close to panicing.....but i managed to get through it...phew....this took bout 1.5hrs cause some people struggled to find the missing person.....yes...our team of three was one if those strugglers....so you def dont want me to be therre trying to rescue you...haha....

Next was actually spraying a fire hoze...again in teams of three...of course the person in the front opening and closing the hose and people behind you supporting the pipe and supporting the front man cause wow...when that water turns on the pressure in the hoze is crazy.....we had to rotate our team of three and all of us got a chance at opening the hoze....man....cool...i enjoyed it....but then i saw the time....hmmmmm...supposed to be 2.5hrs....it was now already 3hrs and the only thing i wanted was to get off the ship and spend some time in Dubrovnik....30min later we finaly finished.....yay...i ran to the room, changed, smsed my friends who were already in Dubrovnik and it was so cool cause they met me right at the pier where the tender boat dropped us off (this time we anchored hence i had to take a tender boat to get on land)...outside we roamed the streets just taking in the beauty and then went for some wine and local food and a slice of good old pizza...2hrs out were really great.....after work that night a couple of us thought we woud have one drink at the crew bar just to unwind...was really nice day.....here is a pic of Dubrovnik and a pic of Paula and me (she works at restaurant reservation and hostess)...... Chat soon....
