Another great lunch....this time in Monepulciano on a Sunday. Mom and dad had already been to this quaint little place and they said that they thouroughly enjoyed it, in fact, they had been there twice and both times they really enjoyed it.....so....we thought, why not go there all together....for a Sunday lunch....the name of the place ristorante degli archi.
We arrived, of course we had made a reservation, and Sofia's seat was ready...with colourful plastic knife, fork, spoon and a cup....how cute....she was very excited to play with her cuttlery....hahaha. So for starters there was some sharing going on....kim and i shared the asparagus in a tartufo cream with an egg....Mutti, mom and dad a cold meat and cheese platter and a caprese, eva and felix the tomato brushetta....and wow, the asparagus was absoloutely phenomenal. In all honesty, i had no idea what to expect...but what arrived, was definitely unexpected, but it was just wow. I tried some of the cold platter and caprese, and also that was great, and the presentation was very beautiful. The brushetta i did not try, but apparently they were very good.....Sofia tried a little bit from the caprese and from the asparagus.....i think time to share some pics...

I think you might agree...the food looks great. Mains, we only ordered once we had the starters done, which was a great choice cause they were very fast with their service. For mains, Mutti ordered the saffron risotto, Felix ordered a pizza, Verena penne napolitana, Kim ordered lamb, mom and dad the spinach and ricotta ravioli with cinghiale and me the swordfish with a citrus salad.....mom and i shared.....eva decided not to have a mains...but try a little bit from all of us....now the verdict....i will share pics and state the verdict.....
Kim's lamb....cannot say because i do not eat lamb, he however said it was very nice
Mutti's saffron risotto with asparagus, it was cooked perfectly and was very nice
Ricotta and spinach ravioli with cinghiale, very nice, cinghiale was so tender...but the stuffing of the ravioli was a little bit lost
Swordfish with citrus salad, it was ok, the fish was not quite my taste, the salad complimented it very well though...and for me, the plate was wrong, should NOT have been a glass plate
Fleix and Verena both enjoyed their food....but sorry...i did not manage to take a pic. During our lunch at ristorante degli archi, the owner was singing a few well known Italian songs, such as oh solo mio....he is such a personality, very interesting and of course very entertaining...it is a little bit sad that he does not really have outside seating. There is a few seats but under the arch, in the shade and more like a passageway, so not somewhere one would like to sit. The inside decoration is way over the top, but i guess that is what makes it special and it definitely suites the owner's personality. The food was good....but what made it, is the owner. Yes, i would probably go back, but i would not rush back to this place, i would try something else again...i must say, i definitely preferred Arezzo. Dessert...nope...we decided to all have an ice-cream when we walked to the car.....kim and i shared amarena and pistacchio.....what else...hahaha.....and of course Sofia shared with us...her absoloute favourite food. We had a very nice lunch and we were all full and were ready to enjoy some pool time at home.
So...that is it from me for today...next time...let's see what i will write about....what will inspire me....cheerio.
