Finland

A visit up to Finland to see Kim's family...and yes...we did quite a few things...starting with the May 1st celebration....which is big in Finland....we were invited to go to the "forest" to celebrate...sounded quite intriguing...gumboots very organised....a "suite" for Sofia was organised...i think we were ready.....so once we arrived...the pic-nic basket with the aperitivo snacks and the prosecco were packed and off we went.....and wow...Sofia enjoyed the woods...first time for her...and when we put her on the ground, and she was able to feel all these new things, inlcuding moss, she was just laughing to herself....it was just soooooo cute....let me share some pics....

After the apritivo we enjoyed an Italian meal with caprese and lasagna. Dessert was a liquorish panacotta which i must admit i did not like, but then again that might have been obvious because i do not like liquorish and i also do not like panacotta....anyway...we had a nice evening, nice to be out in the nature and i especially enjoyed the aperitivo in the forest, very special.
On th 1st May we also went to the market in Porvoo in the morning...there was of course candies, toys, old books and balloons for sale..the typical festive markets that you get....

Of course we also went to our favourite coffee shop...Ronga..and yes, we did have cappuccino and of course the delicious carrot cake, in fact, we were there twice...cause in all honesty...the carrot cake and cappuccino are fabulous...

The main reason for wanting to go up was to celebrate Kim's dads 75th birthday....he wanted all his grandkids present and hence we went up there...and we had a very delicious lunch...it started off with some Veuve Cliquot aperitivo which of course was amazing....and then there was lots of food...smoked/warm salmon, gravalax, potato bake, pecorino cheese, caprese etc etc....and some brunello red wine which we brought from back home..we had a nice lunch and i think it was nice to celebrate with all 4 grandkids....

We also managed to see a few friends which is always nice to catch up. The kast evening we were invited to Katja for dinner and she made delicious karjalanpiirakka as starter, salmon soup for mains and the blueberry pie....even i had to have seconds..of ALL THREE....hahaha...yes, i have some pics to share...
