Villa Armena

Yes, yes....i know i know...i am slacking...but in all honesty....since coming back from Finland....i do not know where the time went.....the day is spent with Sofia the busy bee and at night....well then it was time to have some chats and talks and then its already bed time...but i know....it is no excuse and hence i have decided im going to put some time aside again the next few days and catch up with some needed blogs...until i am up to date again...hahaha.....so let me start from the beginning...the night we (Sofia and I) came back from Finland we had an invitation at Villa Armena (Mutti received the invite and asked whether mom, dad, Sofia and I could join).

Villa Armena is a beautiful boutique hotel in Buonconvento. We were invited to the introduction of the new chef.....in all honesty we did not quite know what that meant but we decided there must be some kind of food...so yes, we did not eat.....when we arrived there were beautiful candles outside the boutique hotel, it just looked so inviting and stunning....let me share some pics....

The evening started with some chatter among the various people that were invited. Then there was wine and prosecco degustation and you could just try whichever you wanted...i tried quite a variety of proseccos as well as method classique bubbly...the lady was excellent in explaining the differences and i must say i enjoyed that....while sipping the first glass of bubbly we were able to see the chef and his sous chef at work (there is a glass)....and the food looked good.....let me show you a pic...

So....now....what was this evening all about...as i said it was to introduce the chef and what happened was that various platters came out all with bite size food and we got to try whichever we wanted....from squid risotto, to salumi and pecorino plates to gazpacho to chocolate truffels to ribbolita soup etc etc.....
More preparation
Type of curry with beetroot
Squid ink risotto
Chocolate brownie
Chocolate truffels
Naturally, one prefered some dishes over others....the pecorino cheese they had there was absoloutely amazing...just wow.....and the chocolate truffels were to die for...i think i must have had about five...pure chocolate, just so delicious....amazing...and while all these plates of food kept coming and coming and we could taste the various wines, we had a young woman singing some Italian songs. I later met her, her name is Selena, and i must say she sang good and it was very enjoyable....she is a person so bubbly and full of energy...really nice to see....

And Sofia....well she was awake the whole time...also wanting to try various things...and like always an absoloute angel. What would i change....well...i would have introduced the chef....then i would have asked each group to sit down at a table....then i would have brought 2 or 3 dishes to each table (all the same), sadly, not once was the name of the chef mentioned and i felt that it would have been so much nicer to sit and taste in piano piano mode (slowly) as opposed to cocktail style. That being said though...we had a really nice evening...and we only ended up going to bed at 1:30am.....i was tired but it was well worth it.....nice and different.
Now i am off to bed though....so goodnight from me....and hopefully you will hear from me soon.....
