This week we had Mutti (my gran) and Nonna (my mom) onboard with us on Norwegian Jade....so this blog is dedicated to some things that we did together....

Day one...Houston, Texas...embarkation.....

They came onboard on Saturday in Houston, Texas. Lunch was at Cagney's which is the VIP lunch restaurant served a la carte....we have been there several times the past few weeks and i know the menu pretty well....so, it was easy....the asparagus with the parma ham and mushrooms and the smoked salmon...definitely favourites of mine....smoked grilled salmon it was...and as always delicious...and i am very sorry to say...i do not have a pic..i promise i will take next time...however, i do have a pic of the grilled asapargus with rocket, parmesan and porcini mushrooms...

Day two....Sunday...sea day:
Lunch was not Cagney's...in fact we decided to try the Grand Pacific, which is the a la carte inclusive restaurant....Mutti decided on the chicken nachos, Kim went for crab salad and then chicken legs, while mom and i decided on the rocket and prawn salad.....we were all extremly happy...nachos were huge..so guess what...we all dug into them also. The weather was not too great, so we spent a little time outside, but more inside, playing with Sofia. The evening consisted of some aperitifo in the cabin...then VIP party and after that pictus with the captain....dinner...Asian restaurant called Jasmin (inclusive). We enjoyed yummie vegetable springrolls for starters followed by some crispy orange beef, lemon/ pepper shrimps, sweet and sour chicken and some mixed fried rice....and yes...i do have a pic of the mains which i can share with you.....it was all very good...

After arrival it was time to go an explore...we knew where we would take them...of course non other than Margarittaville....once arrived...Mom, Kim and me wanted a Margarita...Mutti water......but guess what....Kim thought Mutti definitely needs to try a Margarita...so 4 original Margaritas were ordered.....and man...they just never disappoint...so damn yummie.....lunch....guacamole from the guacamole cart...freshly prepared...and a burger for kim. After munching down one guacamole another guacamole was ordered, it is just too damn good to only have one between all of us....even Sofia loves it...and guess what....here are some pics from the beautiful Margaritaville in Cozumel.

Day four....Tuesday...Belize
Today i took mom, Sofia and Mutti out....Kim stayed on the ship....of course the plan was to take them to the little place that i had eaten ceviche before and have some fish ceviche with them...combined with a shrimp and cheese quesidilla.....divine....no pics...sorry.
Of course we also took some pics when we went out and of Sofia alone which i am going to share with you...

This time...i deviated from the usual...first the caprese (normal) and then the minestrone with shrimps....so delicious....im sorry...no pics...next time ill take a pic.
Day five....Wednesday....Roatan:
As you might remember...kim and i went to experience the dolphin encounte while mom, Mutti and Sofia went to Captain Jack's Ceviche Bar and had the conch ceviche. In the evening we went to Le Bistro, the French restaurant onboard. We all loved it...and yes...i can share some pics....
Mom and my starter: Scallops on aubergine puree with chopped tomatos and pinenuts
Kim's starter: Escargots with garlic butter
Mutti opted for a salad as her starter. Mains....Mutti, mom and me all had the pork fillet with caramelized apples, asapargus spears and crisps. Kim opted for the duck with green beans and baby potatos.

Dessert....kim and i shared the apple tarte tatin and Mutti and mom shared the chocolate napoleon. They were good...but nothing exceptional, so next time i think i would opt for something else...maybe the cheese platter.....

Day six.....Thursday...Sea Day:
Sea days are all about relaxing....enjoying the weather and good food. Today lunch was at the Gardencafe (buffet) because we wanted to sit outside....such a beautiful, warm day. Dinner, mom and Mutti looked after Sofia and went to la cucina while Kim and i had a dinner with Chief Engineer and his wife (she was onboard for one cruise)...for us it was asian.
Day seven....Friday....Sea Day:
Well, so much about good weather....hahaha.... One coukd feel we are getting closer to Houston, it was windy and cold....so today was spent inside. Perfect day to have been invited to the electrical workshop for some Norwegian soup (including mom and Mutti). It is just so good...yet so simple...it is a clear broth type soup....and it is all about the meat which is cut in small chunks and just melting in your mouth....cooked for a good few hours....it is so yummie. The other ingredients are (all small cut): cellery, carrots, potatos, parsley, sausage and cabbage.....kim normally has at least 2 servings but today he stopped himself cause our last night we we wanted to take mom and Mutti to Cagney's (steak restaurant). Starters....the short ribs with hummous and red pepper puree (kim) and the aragula, pear, walnut salad (mom and me). Mains...fillet mignon (butterfly style) for the three ladies and kim went for the new york strip.....sides...roasted mushroom, mash potatos and grilled beetroot....the meat is just so yummie....we loved it. (I had to send my first one back cause it was not grilled correct, then i thought i would have to wait forever, much huge complements, they were so fast to bring me a new one....and then it was cooked to perfection). Dessert...kim and i shared the macademia ice-cream sandwich. Mom and mutti shared the apple crumble.....wow...that was soooo delicious...next time i will want to share that, the apples were soft, the crumble crispy and just the right amount of each....of course some vanilla ice-cream on the side....yummie.
That completes the one week onboard the Norwegian Jade joined by mom and Mutti. They loved it and we loved having them. So, this concludes my blog....hope you enjoyed it and you will hear from me soon. Have a super day.
