Yes...you are reading correct....a day trip....actually an after lunch trip to Florence....main reason....to get some bike clothes....we have explored some shops in Arezzo but nothing really nice...Kim has done some research and said that there were two nice shops up in Florence which we should check out.....so after our Italian school (more about that another time), we drove up to Florence....we had some lunch at the paninoteca in Montepulciano called Casa di Edel da Baffo. We heard that their foccacia panini amazing (of course various fillings)....off we went....we had.....one with prosciutto cotto, formaggio and funghi, the other one with a special prosciutto crudo....in fact it had red peppercorns on the outside...the owner said the name, but in all honesty...i forgot...but i did not forget to take a pic....

They were damn good. I would definitely recommend going there for a simple bite to eat, And there were so many to choose from. There are also some salads, burgers and carpaccio...and they all looked delicious...yes, we will go back.
Once we arrived in Florence we visited both shops....first one had quite bad service and not that much choices...however, the second one, called Motorama, had a lot to choose from and great service.....so yes, we did find what we were looking for....how exciting....and i even got to wear it cause after all we came up to Florence with the bike...here is the ones i was debating between...the beige and the pink....
Final choice...the beige
There was also a stop at a pasticceria which looked delicious...a small panini with egg and truffel...and one with prosciutto crudo and funghi...both absoloutely delicious...would we go again...yes...i also had a cappuccino which was decent...the chocolate sprinkles were cacao rather than sweet chocolate and there could have been a bit more foam and a bit thicker foam...but all in all....not bad cappuccino. Then we had a small blueberry and cream pastry....very nice also...so yes...a good stop.

After we made our purchases...and i was so happy with mine...we decided not to take the highway back home but rather the smaller roads through Chianti and later through Asciano, then Trequanda and home....i guess we underestimated exactly how long it would take....but let me take a few steps back....so to get out of Florence was a little bit of a headache, quite a lot of traffic, even with a bike...but we managed to get to Greve in Chianti where we drove to the main piazza (makes it sound very large, but we know that it is not), where we chose a place where we had a quick bite to eat...a porcini pizza and a buffalo caprese (sharing). The food was ok....nothing i would run back to...the pizza a little thick...and on the caprese they were stingy with the mozzarella....let me share a pic...
Greve in Chianti dinner
After dinner....we carried on riding....through Asciano and then to Trequanda...the route is beautiful...there is nothing to say about that....BUT it takes time...i guess if we would have had more time it would have been nice...but we were tired, it was getting dark and in all honesty towards the end, we just wanted to get home....so maybe next time...highway both times....or give ourselves the whole day...not just afternoon....but all in all, we had a successful day and we definitely enjoyed it. So...some random facts about an afternoon trip to Florence.....through the beautiful tuscany...but now...off to bed....like always....good night.....
