La porta

Another amazing restaurant....actually an Osteria....and yes...another blog about food....but you know what....i love food...i love to eat it and to look at it...and these places they deserve their own blog rather than being combined...so yes...some shorter blogs...short and sweet...hahaha....

So la porta in Montichiello we have been wanting to try some time...and finally the night had come....we went with friends of ours, who in fact know the owner....so when we arrived, the question was...."are you allergic to anything", "no", "great, then tonight, i will chose what you eat"....and that was that...we never saw the menu...neither for food nor for wine....but you know what...it turned out fabulous.....yes, next time i would like the menu just to see what is actually on it and how large are the actual portions....but for a first time...this was absoloutely perfect...and yes....we all loved it....now i guess it is time to share some pics...first course....octopus with potato puree....oh my word...so damn good...

Next up was a beef tartar....the presentation.....WOW....i loved the fact that the egg yolk came in a pipette....totally different idea....the taste...fabulous...the way the tartar was cute....great....picture time....

Course number three, spaghetti al oli with pomodorini....Again....just fab...and the pasta was really cooked al dente, so yes, we were all very happy...simple....but that does not matter....

Next up...ravioli stuffed with goat cheese....the ravioli was very thin, cooked al dente, how it should be...the stuffing i did not like, but i am biased because i do not like goat cheese whether it is warm or cold....even goat halloumi i cannot eat....the others, who loke goat cheese, all loved it....i mean the presentation was just wow....

Course number five.....pork belly with roasted potatos....oh my word...i have never eaten such a great pork belly..in fact it is not something i would order off the menu, so i really liked the fact that i got to try it at a restaurant, the crackling was so damn good....and it was very juicy...very good indeed.....

Dessert, we had a choice...choose off the menu....by this time i was so full so i in fact decided not to go for a dessert...in fact, the whole table decided rather to opt for a grappa for digestion....so i cannot comment on desserts.....the food was spelndid....the osteria os quite small, so it is intimate....i really enjoyed it...and we will definitely be back.....montichiello is a tiny village between montepulciano and pienza....but it is really quaint and really worth a visit...have a look....

So....now..it has been quite a few blogs about food...next one...let's see what inspiration i find....i think i might share with you our experience from the 2 nights spent at Amalfi coast.....some food and some scenery pics....but for now goodnight....chat soon.....
