As promised....TallinN....Estonia....this time there will not be a seperate food and cappuccino and sightseeing blog...why cause we were there for two days.....so where to start...I guess this time I could do chronologically....
Monday morning we took the ferry from Helsinki to Tallinn....we drove their in our own cars as we were taking them to TalliNn. The ferry was a short and pleasant ride....we started off with a breakfast buffet which included strong coffee, gravalax, cottage cheese, rye bread with egg butter and more gravalax and more gravalax....that gravalax is so damn good.....after that....we took a seat in the front of the ferry where there is a huge window so we could see our ferry ride.....
Arrival in TalliNn we went to our hotel Barons in the old town....what a great location...we dropped luggage and then split...why...cause We thought 10 walking around the old town together would be too many...so Kim and I took little Sofia and made our way through the old town....
It is such a cute little place, they sell a lot of sheep wool, so we bought Sofia a wooden sheep and a sheep fur...both kim and me when we grew up had sheep furs to sleep on and we loved them...so we thought we would get Sofia also one....and the wooden sheep....so cute....cant wait when she can sit and use it...let me share a pic...

We walked the old town discovering all the quaint little shops and the sights....the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral was impressive, something totally different to what I have seen before, different architecture, loved it....
The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is an orthodox cathedral in the Tallinn Old Town, Estonia. It was built to a design by Mikhail Preobrazhensky in a typical Russian Revival style between 1894 and 1900, during the period when the country was part of the Russian Empire. The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is Tallinn's largest and grandest orthodox cupola cathedral. It is dedicated to Saint Alexander Nevsky who in 1242 won the Battle of the Ice on Lake Peipus, in the territorial waters of present-day Estonia. Let me share some pics....

I also enjoyed the whole medieval feel of the town...have a look at this cute store....

We also saw St Nicholas church and the tower....

As Kim and i were just walking and looking we also found a beautiful viewpoint over the old town of TallinN...let me share a pic of that...the large church that is towering above everything is the St Olav's church tower....

As you might know Kim and me by now, we don't just sightsee the whole day....in fact one of the important things we love to do is find a beautiful coffee shop and try their sweet and savoury goods as well as of course their cappuccino.....we found this cute little place which ended up being an old marzipan factory, of course Kim was in 7th heaven....inside they still make the marzipan and hand paint them individually, it was amazing to see...

Here is a pic of the outside of the coffee place
Coffee place: Majasmokk...oldest cafe in Tallinn
We tried the cappuccino which had delicious foam, was strong and not too milky...could have had a little bit more foam but all in all a good cappuccino....one could even sprinkle choc on it...which i love.....kim chose the food goodies which included a cappuccino marzipan bar, a twirled marzipan and cinnamon pastry and a rye bread with small fishes and egg....all was very delicious....

We also tried one more cappuccino place in the afternoon....well kim had some red wine, i however wanted another cappuccino, we went to a coffee place near our hotel called Reval cafe....the cappuccino was not too bad....thick foam, strongish, but could have had more foam, so a little milky....let me share a pic....

After that it was time for bubbly at our hotel and then it was time for dinner at Olde Hanse....medieval restaurant near our hotel. The waitress wAs dressed up from medieval times...the starters were shared on the table, ramging from this baked cheese with dipping bread to pate to pickles etc....mains consisted also of sharing from salmon to beef strips to vension sausage.....my favourite was definitely the molten cheese with the dipping bread....we loved it so much that we ordered a second portion....delicious....let me share a pic

The next day we strolled the old town...had another cappuccino at Majasmokk and then late afternoon we took the ferry back to Helsinki....it was such a nice visit, you know....i love seeing new places, trying their food and seeing new places.....now we will go back to Finland for a little bit and then it is off to Barcelona to visit my sister....so from me cheers now....
