Foodies in Germany

One i have already mentioned......the Forellenfillet with salad on Insel Reichenau.....but just to refresh your memory.....here is the pic again.....

Forellen Fillet at Riedel
That was delicious, it's not quite the salad plates that i am used to from Switzerland, but nevertheless it was yummie, what definitely makes it, is the salad dressing, creamy/herby, so yummie.....
Now let's chat about some foodies that you have not seen before....on Tuesday evening we saw Eva (mom's cousin) and her two kids again, this time at Ziegel Stuebli, which is an old horse stable and next to the restaurant, they are still riding.....beautiful setting, very countryside....of course typical German....me, i was quite predictable...I had the salad plate with the Egliknusperli (which is deepmfried fish chunks), the plate was huge, which actually puts me off a little, i like the more delictate plates, but that being said, the food was nice...the salad was a little boring, but still nice....Kim had the Schitzel with the fried potatoes (fried with bacon and onion), and he throughly enjoyed it, i mus admit it was very good, and the fried potatoes with the onion and bacon, oh my word, somdamn good, again the portion was too big though....Oma and daughter, Verena, had the Hackbraten with Spaetzle (rolled mince), Felix, Eva's son had a "pfaenlli" which means pan, it was a small cast iron pan filled with potatoes, bacon and onion...looked yummie and Eva had a salad plate with a roasted potato and sour cream...mom had the same as me....now let me share some pics....

Now to the last evening...well last evening that i will share pics about...why...because two nights we ate at home...cause Kim and I were at the market and had bought yummie food to make at home...we had bought some Pfifferlinge (chantarelle mushrooms) and Kim made a yummie ceamy sauce and potatoes and i cooked some pork fillet, some deer fillet and some wildboar meat, it was so damn good and Oka enjoyed eating at home so much...it was yummie, and sorry but i did forget to take pics...so as mentioned above...now let me share another going out food experience....
We went to Strandcafe the last night we were with Oma, we had been there the previous time we stayed with Oma and the food was very good, hence we decided to go back....the decision for me was simple....the salad plate with the Zanderfillet (fish from Bodensee), mom had the same, Oma had the Forellenfillet withnpotatoes and spinach and Kim had variety of fish with potatoes and spinach (Zanderfillet, Sainling and Lachsforellen), we were all very happy, what i must say is that the portion sizes are quite small, hence one is DEFINITELY not over full after the meal and hence there was space for dessert...but before dessert...let me share some pics of the mains...

Kim's fish plate with potatoes and salad
Form dessert Oma had the apple cakes, Kim the apple struddle with vanilla ice cream and mom and I shared the cheese plate....we already had that the last time and it was very good and hence we knew we should have it again....yummie...we were all very happy with our desserts....let me share a pic of Oma's and Kim's dessert...

So...these were some food experiences in Germany....as you know from my previous blog we also ate a lot of sweet things, this was the savoury part of things...sightseeing was similar to the last time we were in Germany hence I will not be writing a sightseeing blog...just these few food blogs....next up will be Italy....we will be flying to Florence and exploring the area around Montepulciano....so from me cheers....we chat again from Italy....goodnite.....
