First few days on the ship.....

So...once again.....back on the ship....and once again....Norwegian Jade....the places we would visit would be the same as last time...my first cruise's itinerary is as follows: embarkation Civitavecchia, then a sea day, Katakolon (Greece), Piraeus (Greece), Izmir (Turkey), Istanbul (Turkey), Istanbul (Turkey) (yes...there is an overnight there), sea day, sea day (yes....two sea days in a row), Naples (Italy) and back to Civvitavecchia......

As we got onboard i had the regular safety exam and collected my schedule...what....i start nightshift tomorrow....hmmmm...normally nightshift is half way through contract...hmmm....strange...oh well, i guess i need to make the best of the situation.....first day back flew by....there is a lot of new people on the team which is good and bad....ill let you know later during the contract whether it is more good or more bad...hahaha....

Not going to go into all details...first few days were hectic...an accident happened on board and unfortunately a crew member died....a very sad day...and never easy.....also nt easy when people start gossping even though they do not have the facts.....

Nighshift has been tiring but im getting there....in Katakolon i didnt make it out...needed to sleep after my first night shift....Piraeus i found a coffee shop...serving Illy coffee (with excellento foam and price) and excellento wifi...so managed to call home and have a fab conversation and a fab cappucchino....Izmir....Kim and i went out....he wanted some kebab and i wanted a coffee...ended up having the kebab....but no coffee...decided on apple tea instead...so with regards to going ashore it has been rather chilled....

Now of course....i could not write a blog without telling you some little bit about food.....Im going to tell you about this sushi platter we ordered...actually i have a pic...the sashimi, like always, was excellento, but what surprised me was the role....it is called dragon role, and wow...so so good...so in the middle of the role is shrimp tempura then ontop is smoked eel and avo and a dollop of a mixture of sashimi, mayo, spices and caviar....man...it was so delicious....ate way too much but we both could not stop cause it is so good...and yes...i do have a pic...

Talking about food....of course....when one is nightshift, which normally starts either 23:00 or 23:30....one often arrives to someone having ordered pizza.....and of course then i cannot help myself....so i always end up eating...actually that reminds me...next time i must take a pic...there are 3 flavours, pepperoni, vegetarian or margharita...(of course you can add individual toppings if you desire)....the only one that gets ordered by Guest Services (our team), strangly..is pepperoni....(salami)....pizza has a thick base but it has a lot of cheese...and is just so good (eventhough quite greasy)....the pizza is huge...and i mean huge....the charge is $5....nothing.....yes...i promise next time there is a pic.....

anyway....before i bore you i hav to say....so sorry, this has not been the most fascinating blog...but i just thought id give you all an update of the first couple of days...and now that i am nightshift...i actually have some time to write...tomorrow Istanbul....cheers

Oh my word....my sister, who wanted to be a nun (inspired by the movie Sister Act), is getting married....and to a guy that suites her perfectly.....we started getting reAdy around lunch time...make up artist, Victor Ortega, was flown in from Manila. He did my sister's, my mom's and my makeup....but now a few steps back...this wedding pre- celebration started on Wednesday night with a Swiss family dinner, Thursday night a pub crawl and Friday night a close family (Aboitiz and Bucher) at a Spanish tapas place (where the food was amazing...first time i tried nero paella)....but to the pub crawl we get later..... Another cruise in Western Caribbean

This is the second week....we started the journey in Tampa and this Tampa we decided to take Sofia to the aquarium...I was quite interested to see whether she would be fascinated with the fishes or not....and she was....certain ones...certain ones not too much....but she definitely enjoyed going there. The aquarium had 8 sections: Wetlands Trail, Journey to Madagascar, Bays & Beaches, No Bone Zone, Coral Reefs, Dragons Down Under, Ocean Commotion and Splash Pad. We visited all except for the Splash Pad (that is outside for the kids to play and it was closed at the moment). It was nice also because there were areas where you could touch the sting rays...I enjoyed that, Sofia did not want to touch them, and nor did Kim. First few days in our new home- Dallas TX

So we have arrived in Texas....yay for us....and we have been doing quite a lot...so yes, we have been keeping busy. We arrived on Friday 23rd June in the afternoon at 2pm....after doing immigration, we went to the hotel, dropped off the luggage, literally, and went to fetch our new car....a white Jeep Cherokee....it is so nice....we are soooo excited to have it...beautiful...have a look.... Sofia in the Jeep Kim and the Jeep Cherokee Friday night we had some Sushi take-aways because Sofia was jet lagged, and so were we, so we did not make it to a restaurant with her.  Saturday there was also quite a few admin things to get done...but it was a rainy day....it rained almost the whole day...so we got a bit wet, but it is warm rain......so never mind.
