Roma....encore...and still in love....
So....im in Rome...AGAIN.....and guess what....i still love it...but thats because i love food, proseco, wine and just to walk and wonder....and if u dont like those things....u will prob visit Rome once and then u have seen it.....
My highlights in Rome and the rest of italy....have good cappuccino and cornetti for breakfast....then eat fresh mozzarella and either tomato or proscuitto with it..... later more macchiato...then aperitifo of course with peanuts and chips.....and then dinner....pizza, pasta....mozzarella, proscuitto....saltimboca...as long as it is italian...im good....actually very good....so......what did i do....i pretty much summarised it already....but i think Rome deserves some more details.....
So....like i said...Rome did not consist of doing touristy things...but rather about relaxing....i wanted to show my mom the non touristy side of Rome...and man she loved it....i showed her the travestere area for dinner the first night....we had to take quite a stroll from the guesthouse..but i love that area and we found this little place...wow....i loved the atmosphere and the food was divine....from mozzarella & proscuitto to saltimboca....great....here are two pics
Of course i also showed my mom the market at fioro di campo....the good cappuccino just around the corner at Primo.....then further strolling to the Pantheon (she has never seen that)....and piazza Navona.....for lunch we met a friend of mine from the ship....and it goes without saying...there was mozzarella involved....and vino.....then Alessio showed us a famous ice cream shop.....truffle shop.....of course i had to buy truffles....pistaccio...orange peel, dark choc truffle and some dark square with figs and almonds....and yes...the best was the pistaccio....here is a pic
But....like i said....without macchiato after lunch there is something missing....famous place....recommended by a friend back home from SA...have a look at pic below....the coffee fab...why....hell of a strong...love it....
Alessio also told me about some other aperitifos...other than campari soda....which is the most famous....there is one called Spritz....proseco and apperol....and one called americano...campari, vermouth and some other stuff....hell of a strong....hmmmm....here is a pic of me and the americano and a pic of me and mom at aperitifo drinking.....i of course tried both...and i do like them both.....
So.....the last night i took my mom for a birthday dinner...cause im be off to venice the today, her actual birthday, and she is off to switzerland.....i took her to a local spot recommended my Alessio called Osteria St Ana.....amazing....its down in like a cellar...what a cool spot...and of course had to try lasagna made with ragu, truffles and porcini...its famous...and was excellento...and yes, mozzarella was involved in the dinner...here is a pic...
Lets say...no meal...and i mean no lunch or dinner...was without mozzarella...shit....now writing this....quite hectic...hahaha...no i didnt have pizza cause i promised i would only eat it in venice....so flying to venice today...and more italian food....mozzarlla, pizza, ice cream....and im hoping i find that famous almond cake again....hmmmmmm...normally im quite good with direction and orientation....so lets see.....
Ps....almost forgot...we also did italian style breakfast...cornetti and cappuccino...and guess where i went every single morning...place near our guesthouse...the one i found with my gran....and just to make you a little jealous...here is a pic....this is also what i had for breakfast this morning at the airport...waiting for my flight to venice....
So cheers....chat soon...from Venice....
