Cooking....

So....a few things to mention before talking about an amazing meal that Claudia and I cooked......whats worth mentioning....places to go and check out....first one i wanna mention...sandton sun, the sun deck....great....friday night...fab vibe and the snack and cheese platters r just fab....the cheese platters had dried mango, grapes, camembert, brie etc and the snack patters had fish & prawn skewers, beef skewers, mini burgers, olives etc....really good....so i think that is def worth a visit for sundowners and then a light dinner.....here is a pic....

The other place.....i finally managed to try out the Tashas at Nicol Way...and i must say ill def go back...service was great, very attentive....the waiter that was supposed to serve our table was busy as we sat down...so another one came...introduced himself and said he would take our drinks order but our actual waiter will be with us just now...wow..Attentive i thought....food...amazing...from omlLette to poached eggs to a muesli, stewed fruit type breakfast....i will def go back....only thing...if you like lots of foam on cappuccino...mention it cause otherwise they fill cup to rim with milk and the foam is a thin layer.....one pic here of the monaco bfast: poached eggs with porcini mushrooms, feta and wilted spinach on rye.....

Now....finally to the cooking part....5 course dinner challenge...but we all know i love to cook, so i was really excited....The plan....2 starters, 1 main and 2 desserts.....so.....first starter.....salmon tartar and brinjal tartar/salad......salmon marinated in some lemon juice and brinjals were marinated in quite a few ingredients....very nice....

Next up calamari with char-grilled peppers and tzaziki...all home made....of course tzaziki hell of a lot of garlic...i love garlic...but im not the only one...char-grilled peppers were roasted with garlic and calamari were flash fried with garlic, oregano and chillies...the chillies, tzaziki and sweet peppers were such a great combo.....

Fillet with a caramalized onion and black pepper cream sauce.....served with lentil and feta mash....now normally im not a lentil fan...but was fab...rocket was added for some extra peppery feeling and of course for deco...needed some green all the creamy colours.....

First dessert....home-made sorbet sushi....yes...the black stuff is the seaweed that you actually use for sushi...one sushi made with mango sorbet, the other with granadilla....(those were not home made)....and in the middle slice of strawberry.....

Last course....lime souffle drizzled with some sherry....the taste was fab...didnt quite rise the way we wanted...but man....wot a light dessert...good way to end a meal...and of course all courses were complimented with white or red wine....yummy...

So....that was our cooking challenge and we all enjoyed it..from cooking it....to eating it....my best...hmmmm..... hard to say....the calamari....or maybe the fillet and the creamy sauce.....yes...i think ill go for those two things....now im hungry again...and it doesnt help when pictures of pizza get sent to me while im writing this blog....looking at my own food and hawaiin and galic pizza pictures...hmmmmmm.....ok...let me get ready now and then we are off...cheers.....
