Santo Tomas de Castilla- Guatemala
Another new port....and a new country....not one that was necessary on my list....but we all know how much i LOVE to travel and see new places...so this was good....we docked in the cargo port (i think that is the only port), not a pretty port....BUT Sofia loved it....because she could sit on the balcony sun lounger and she had soooo much to see....trucks, cars, bicycles, cranes....exciting for her...she even took her breakfast outside (her boiled egg) and peeled and ate it on the sun lounger...yes, she peels her own egg...almost by herself...just needs a little help, but I think quite impressive for 17 months. Let me share some pics...

Today we had a tour planned, but we left the ship before the tour because there is quite a large area with local vendors all selling their goodies. Most stalls sell the same things and you do need to barter but I still enjoyed it. We bought some coffee beans and Christmas decoration and of course a mug (well, the Christmas decoration and the mug is what I buy in every new city).
Our tour was scheduled at 2pm and it was a one hour trolley tour through the nearest city....we thought an hour would be ok with Sofia.....Sofia enjoyed running around a little bit and playing until we boarded the trolley....

Just before 2pm we boarded our trolley. We chose the front seats cause they had no windows and we thought that would be nice....let me share some pics so that you can imagine this trolley a little bit better....

The tour began promptly at 2pm and it took us though the village, there were not many attractions to see but it gave us a good idea of the town, very poor and dirty but interesting. We saw the local graveyard, which was rather interesting because it is VERY colourful...let me share a pic...

We also saw the market and a small "mall" and of course the take-aways...there was even a Mc Donalds. On the tour was also included a soft drink, water or a local beer which I thought was great. Sofia took her bottle of water and did not wanna share it with me at all, in fact she wanted to drink it WITHOUT my help...hahaha....let me share some last pic...

Yes, we enjoyed the trolley tour, we saw something and the amount of time was also great for Sofia, she looked out, enjoyed her water and so it was good, yes I would recommend it. So Santo Tomas....interesting place....there are other areas which apparently are nice to see such as Livingston and River Dolce....but there are quite a lot of insects and we do no want to expose Sofia to that. Next time I do no think we go out...I think we enjoy the ship, at least we only dock at Santo Tomas twice, Christmas and New year cruise. Now we are off to go and grab some lunch...bye-bye.
