Venezia
Venezia overnight....arrival 14:00, officially but we got there at 13:30...mutti and i took the shuttle boat to San Marco and decided to slowly make our way back to piazza di roma where we would meet kim and his parents and Gustav (a family friend).....of course our strolling included stops for coffee and not to forget the famous aperol spritz...typical Italian fashion with the snacks of chips.....but there was one unexpected stop....we stopped in this sweet shop and i saw these biscuits...amaretti...different flavours....almond, madarine etc...so i thought hmmm....let me get one almond to try...well needless to say...i tried it and went back to the shop to buy more cause they were simply delicious....yummie.....now leg me share some pics before my writing gets too boring for you....
Now to the pizza...i am embarressed to say....that i totally forgot to take a pic....we went to our usual place, the non-touristy place....but somehow the pizza was good but not as good as i remembered it...a little disappointed....but the house wine, vino rossa de la casa, was excellento...very light and almost...refreshing....strolling back we were looking for an ice cream place...but they seemed to be closed..so we ended up having to buy a supermarket ice cream....it was ok...not how i know Italian ice cream to be.....anyhow....
The following day Mutti was going back to Switzerland and the new cruise would start this time hosting kim's parents and Gustav....they went off on their own and around lunch time, it was time for kim and me to take a stroll and find a pizza place....of course we found one....but we were curious how prices would be and more importantly taste...and oh my word did we find a place....it was so damn good.....wow...we debated which pizza to order and in the end we made a conscious decision...let's order something we have not had before....and this one would be long stemmed mushrooms and speck....speck is very similar to parma ham but it is smoked as opposed to air dried...and damn...it was so very delicious...wow....i dont remember the name of the restaurant...but it was right next to the hotel tintoretto...
And you might ask yourself...why did we only have one pizza...hmmm...because we had ice cream before and after lunch....the one after lunch deserves to be mentioned cause it was on another level....the place was called gelateria ca' d'oro...and let me be a little bit a pig....amarena (cherry), pistaccio and noci (walnut)...and unexpectedly....the noci was my absoloute favourite....now where was this place...on strada nova.....amazing...and well worth a try....can you believe we actually had to get in line to get an ice cream...unbelievable
Ice cream...gelateria
