Kapama

So...arrival at Kapama camp, Kim and I left the bike at the River Lodge and then went with my parents to our actual camp, Buffalo.....we got welcomed by the entire team, our private tracker, driver, the manager and duty manager and the bar tender....what a welcome.....the manager said there are a few admin things to take care of, then she would run through the programm with us, then show us the room and run us through it...And then we got asked whether we wanted lunch...yes please.....the admin was short and sweet and the programm was printed on an A4 page....

Both our guide and our spotter....really good...i loved the fact that they had the radio in the ear so we did not keep hearing a constant walkie talkie noise.....and also only 2 vehicles at the same time at one spot...amazing...we saw so much...elephants play fighting, buffalos, numerous lions (from drinking, to sleeping), rhinos (baby, 2 years, with its mother), endless giraffes, hippos...just amazing...no leopard or cheetah....what an experience...there are always new experiences and i just love that you dont know what you might spot. Also, this camp, the ranges really track prints...they dont just radio each other all the time.....and they are very knowledgable...here some facts

Hippo and rhino tracks almost the same, hippo has 4 toes thought and rhino 3

A rhino can run up to 40km/h and wigh up to 2.5 tons (male) and 2 tons (female)

Lions carry for only 3 months

Animals with eyes on the side are vegetariand

Hippos can weigh up to 1.5 tons

Giraffes dont have a voice box

Kim managed to take some truely special pictures....

It was just wow...and i have to say i have been to quite a few private game reserves, but this Kapama Buffalo was in a league on its own...just wow....and just the little extras...3 mains to choose from (and tasting fabulous), always cheese for dessert, lemon slices in the room upon return from game drive etc etc
Would i go again...absoloutely YES....
Unfortunately, tomorrow..we will be returning to JHB....time just seems to fly...this week just went....
