4x4 Mykonos

Our last 4x4 Experience was in Mykonos....there is none in Katakolon....this one started from the pier...this time we chose a red car....our drive started by heading to the most north western corner of the island where the Farro, lighthouse, is situated. We had beautiful views to some of the other islands, but man, it was windy. The guide informed us that 300 days in the year it is windy, mostly from the north...it was crazy...i almost felt chili. In the sky there were dark clouds and he informed us, it is definitely not rain, it is dust clouds from all the wind. He also explained that there are about 8000 inhabitants on Mykonos island, during the summer there are another 15000 coming to work here and about 60000-80000 tourists....crazy. Now let me share some pics of the lighthouse with you....

After that, we made our way to second most well known village called Ano Mera (most wellknown is Mykonos). Its a small village, typical Greek structure...the main town square surrounded with some tavernas. There was also a small souvenir shop, a supermarket and pharmacy...cute. Our journey would then take us to one of the quieter beaches called Kalafati. It is on the most north eastern point of the island. There is a small resort/ restaurant called Aphrodite where we could rent some sun chairs or chill on sun loungers.....very nice....the water was a little bit too cool, so kim and i opted for the tanning.
The reason it is called aphrodite is because there are two hills at the corner of the islands and they look like breasts, hence the name aphrodite. Let me share a pic of the hills.

We had one hour of free time before being served a snack at restaurant. We asked for a glass of local white wine and received a small bottle each and a meze platter consisting of Greek salad, aubergine dip, tzaziki dip a small cracker and fish.....it was good, but cannot compare to what we received in Santorini. I was a little bit disappointed that there was no bread on the table and salt and pepper, for me these are basic things. The venue was very pretty, the typical white buildings and i loved the white wooden boat decoration on the terrace...let me share some pics....

After that...time to return to the ship. We had a great time out....relaxing...private....i again would recommend this tour. So....tomorrow is Katakolon and then the cruise is almost finished again...time just flies. I am off to do some sun tanning now...so from me cheers...we chat soon.
