SA coffee....

Yes...i have been slacking a little....but i have been compiling evidence that SA coffee/ cappuccino is amazing (but i have to admit....i do tell them...please a little bit of milk and lots of foam).....so here are some top spots which definitely deserve a mention.....

Coffee Roastery in Parktown North

Coffee Roastery

I would give that a 4.5/5....cup size perfect...strong coffee, thickish foam....why 0.5 less...cause the biscuit was ok and no choc sprinkle on the coffee....and no, this was not the first time i have been there....also...their carrot cake...definitely worth a try....different....but good....and the atmosphere....divine....

Woolies Nicol Way, Rivonia and Design Quater

Woolies Rivonia

At the Woolies i have to tell them how i want my coffee and most of the time they get it right....They are all consistent...strong coffee....thickish foam.....unfortunately no choc sprinkle (but they sometimes do amazing designs on them...so that will count for something) and no goodie to dunk.....the verdict 4/5....i order the small cup though...also...their macchiato....very nice....

Sugo Hobart Shopping Centre

Sugo

Again...yes....i tell them how i want it...And then it is amazing...foam is thickish...coffee strong....no choc sprinkle...no biscuit...but there is so much foam...i can live without the other two...def gets a 4.5/5....when you go there...make yourself a favour and order the chicken salad (normally im not a fan of that), amazing....sundried tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, salad leaves, chicken strips, cabbage, sesame seeds....and the most amazing dressing (served on the side).....it is so divine...and def a nice portion size.....just wow.....

Vida e Caffe at PnP on William Nicol and by the Baron in Sandton

Vida e Caffe

Wow....5/5....why...thickish foam, right size cup (small size), choc sprinkle, strong coffee....and of course....you get a black Lindt chocolate with it.....what more could you ask for....just divine...my absoloute favourite....and if you go to the PnP on William Nicol...do try their food.....carrot cake....wow....sushi great (on a conveyer belt)....and the salmon tartar.....great stuff.......let me share a pic also.....

Salmon tartar

Yes...there are a couple of spots i had coffee...and i do not think i would go back....Juniper (Hobart Shopping Centre), Riverside Cafe (Riverside Shopping Centre).....both too milky and hardly any foam.....i would like to try Patisserie in Illovo and Tashas at Nicol Way.....once i have...you will hear from me.....oh yes...also need to try Fournos again.....

What i learnt.....

Cappuccino: 1/4 espresso, 1/4 milk and 1/2 foam

Latte: 1/4 espresso, 1/2 milk and 1/4 foam

In South Africa....a lot of places confuse Latte with Cappuccino...and hence the Cappuccinos are too milky cause they have too much milk and too little foam.....hmmmm...something to think about....now im off....cheers....
