Exclusive Jerusalem and Dead Sea

This is the title of one of the shorex offered by us.....exclusive because they only take 15 people and there is an overview of Jerusalem and you go to the dead sea......the tour would depart at 6:30am.....so i was off duty at 6:00...gave me time for a quick change and grab something to eat.....my plan was to sleep on the way there cause i have heard the history of Jerusalem...and i was dead tired...and you know what...i had a good 2hr nap.....felt a hell of a lot better after that....

First stop...mount olive....and the guide was excellent....i learnt some extra facts.....there are two Muslim mosques inside the old Jewish walls....the one with the golden roof near the Wailing wall and the one on the left of it with an almost black roof....the diagonally behind with a white roof is the Jewish synagogue and the main Chtistian church is the one where Jesus was crusifixed with a blueish roof....interesting.....then outside the old city walls just below mount olive is a church that has the shape of a tear...see pic....

Why does it have the shape of a tear? Because it is believed that is where Jesus shed his first tearvwhen he came over mount olive and saw Jerusalem......moreover....the church newr the old olive trees, where we went inside with kim, see pic below....

Was where Jesus slept the last nite of freedom, before they took him.....the other guide might have said this....ill ask kim...but if he did...clearly it was all too much info for my brain to process....a lot of learning happening for me...after that it was a stop at Mount Scopus...but unfortunately was a little misty today, so we could not see the dead sea.....i hopped out and into hus cause was too cold outside....then off to the Davidson centre which is at mount temple.....there we saw a 3D demonstration about the excavation and some of the things they found, for example, the Robinson arch.....the baths....the entrance to the mount temple....and of course the Western Wall was explained...why is it called the Western wall....in actual fact, the temple built on mount temple was the only one facing west, normally they face east when praying, and the Jewish people were banned., so the closest they could prey to the mount temple, temple, was the Western Wall aka Wailing Wall....some pics from the Mount temple excavation...first one is the baths....as you can see there is a dividing line...an entrance and an exit....second pic is the Robinson arch, or what what left of it..third one, one of me inside the excavation of mount temple and last one...the Muslim mosque with the black roof....
Then a short walk to the waling wall...where of course we went inside...women and men seperate...deposited our wish...walked a few steps backwards (this is for respect) and then we were n our way to the dead sea......but first quick stop in a souvenir shop in the dessert...then lunch at the hotel at the dead sea....nthing special...and then i rushed my mom to change into swimming gear so we could go into dead sea and experinece the "floating"...thisbwas our view....
And now time to step into the water.....damn its cold....debate starts....in or not....didnt last very long.....although i hate the cold...i came all this way to look at the water....NO WAY....so in i stepped....wow....cold....and slowly i made my way in...water felt oily...and t he ground was so salty....was hard to walk..imagine walking on hard salt....not very smooth...quite sharp....slowly slowly.....after about 10min i finally had the courage and plunged in....how cool...you really do float...i turned on my stomach...lifted my legs high into the air...twisted on my side...andjust stayed afloat so easily....so cool....here are some pics....

After about 30min enough was enough and i came outside and did some pics with a nice background...ill share one with u.....

16:30 time to drive back to the ship...ride for me was very quick..i took the entire back bench and slept....was good to catch up on some sleep..long night ahead...22:00 until 08:00.....wow....anyway...what a fab day.....so cheers from me for today...you wil hear from me again soon.....bye bye....

Actually before i end....some fact about Israel....israel has 8million people of which 80% are Jewish....out of that only 10% are Orthodox Jews....they are the ones that cannot eat milk and meat products together, they cannot drive on Saturday, they are not allowed to live together before getting married. The other 20% is 15% Muslim and 5% Christian.....there are also 4million Palestinians, 1.5million in the Gaza strip and 2.5million Judean.....anyway...now im off...cheers
