Bistecca

So...as I mentioned, I am going to write one more food blog...then there will be a break from talking about all these restaurants.....and about all this food So what am I going to write about.....about this restaurant called Bistecca....we went with some friends of Fabienne and Sandro's, and of course little Siena came with us..... Bistecca Now you might ask, why did I feel like meat when we have such amazing meat in South Africa...well this restaurant is famous for Wagyu and Kobe beef....so that was definitely something I was keen to try...first were some starters.....we decided on whole roasted garlic, meat balls and the melted cheese with ciabatta.....oh my word....the melted cheese was to die for, then again I am such a fan of melted cheese, it came in an iron skillet and was sizzling, it was amazing. The roasted garlic, well I don't need to say much about those, cause again, those were delicious, but we all know what a sucker I am for garlic....any form of garli...

Now...this will be my last blog about food from Hong Kong...then I think I need to move on to a different topic for once, I mean my whole life cannot revolve around food, can it? Well many people would say a large part does...but definitely not all....haha....so let me tell you about two more places I visited while in Hong Kong..... First of all Zuma. I have written about Zuma before, last time we went there for a Sunday brunch and it was superb, this time I was not in Hong Kong for a Sunday brunch so it was decided that we go there for  a light lunch.  I love Japanese type food...well the sushi and sashimi parts....so we met some of Fabienne and Sandro's friends there. They all took set menus (which I must say looked great) while I decided to stick to the a la carte. The food was great, so fresh and beautifully presented. I must say the portions were quite small, but Fabienne told me she would take me to the best cupcake place afterwards to I was also looking forward to th...

Lunch at Joel Robuchon

Image
As you might remember my mom and I were in Hong Kong a couple of month ago and we went to the Joel Robuchon eatery on the Kowloon side, inside the Gateway/ Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre. This time I suggested in to my sister and she mentioned there was another one inside Landmark (Central side), so we were definitely keen. She called the one in Landmark and they informed her, no children under the age of 4 years, hence we decided to give that one a skip and go to the in gateway/ Ocean Terminal.... We arrived around 13:30 and were lucky cause there was no line and we were seated straight away, as you all know by now, we love the whole sharing idea and I told Fabienne that the crepes were amazing...so we ordered the high tea sandwiches, one of each and the crepes with parma ham, gruyere cheese and egg..... First the three sandwiches came....the one was frois gras with almond pieces, one was smoked salmon  with cream cheese and one was crab with tomato puree...I was quite impres...

Lunch in Hong Kong

I know...I will be writing again about food, but we all know how much I love food and to try new things....what we normally did is one meal is a big meal, with lots of indulging and one meal is a bit smaller, otherwise I think I would be rolling back to South Africa....which I do not think would be very comfortable.....so let's now talk a little bit about some lunch places which we discovered while in Hong Kong....the one day we met Fabienne at Landmark mall and she said we should meet her and Greyhound Cafe....while walking through the mall there were big celebrations, Chinese New Year, the year of the goat, there was music and the Chinese Symbols were everywhere, actually very beautifully done.... Chinese New Year display Ox and rat The Greyhound menu looked amazing, and of course there was a cake display which looked so delicious I already knew that I need to try one of those, so no way I was going to fill my tummy with only savoury goodies....the best optio...

Bread Street Kitchen & Bar

Image
As you know...or might not know but are about to find out, we are in Hong Kong visiting my sister....we are staying a few days in Central in a place called Pottinger Hotel and then I will stay a few days alone with my sister at her apartment...before I get into the food part of this blog I must tell you, this Pottinger Hotel is amazing, mind-blowing, there is a Nespresso machine inside the room, showers are huge and the bed...wow...so damn comfortable, I thought I was sleeping in heaven... Pottinger Hotel Tonight the plan was to all together go and eat at Fish & Meat in Soho, bad luck or good luck...I am not sure, the restaurant was closed (bad luck) but we ended up at Bread Street Kitchen & Bar- a Gordon Ramsay restaurant (definitely good luck) and even luckier cause of course we did not have a reservation but they had space....in the private room...wow...what a service...I was so excited, I have never eaten at any of Gordon Ramsay's restaurants, so I just could...
