Norwegian Spirit
My first cruise on board has been good...although i was afternoon shift and could not go out.....it was good...at least i managed to get to know the ship a little bit...kim and i managed to have some dinners and lunches at all the various places and i managed to try out the gym....the gym is much smaller than on the Jade but it seems to be less busy...been trying the spinning...and believe it or not it has actually been fun...we also tried some of the speciality restaurants....the Spirit has the same speciality restaurant as the Jade BUT it doesnt have the Brazilian one, the one where they cut the meat at your table and has an amazing anti-pasti buffet....oh well.....so which speciality restaurants have we tried....La Trattoria (the Italian)....it is also located on deck 12....however the atmosphere in this one i prefer less...but what i like is...when it is warm in the evening they open up and part of the terrace belongs to the Italian restaurant...that is is a very nice plus in my opinion....the food was fab...actually i prefered it to the Jade...what did i have the carpaccio...sliced ever so thinly with some rocket salad dressed in a creamy sauce and some shaved parmesan....delicious....Kim went for the crispy calamari and also loved them....mains Kim went for the ossobucco which he loved and i went for the shrimps with risotto...in my opnion the risotto was slighly over-cooked but still good....dessert....just an affogato....it was divine...and yes...we have ordered some room service from there...and it has also been fabulous....the lasagna was great...next time i will definitely order that again.....and no...sadly i dont have pics....so sorry....
What else did we try...Le Bistro and Cagney's....i think in both restaurants some atmosphere is lacking....but the food is good....yes...finally in Le Bistro i could have my scallops again with aubergine purree and toasted pine nuts and mains pork fillet with a creamy sauce and caramalized apples....and yes...dessert...of course cheese with walnuts...crackers....and not to forget lots of butter...yummie....Cagney's...yes im also getting quite predictable there...i like the short ribs (off the bone) with hummus purree and red pepper purree for starters and then followed by the fillet mignon....various sides are good...Cagney's fries, broccoli, beetroots....and i have been adventorous....trying different crusts....the red onion (was ok), the gorgonzola (did not like at all), plain grilled with peppercorn sauce (divine)....next time wanna try the cajun style....dessert....we went for the maccademia cookie...which is an ice cream sandwich....one needs to melt the ice cream a little otherwise impossible to eat...flavour divine...and also...the brownie we tried and of course kim's favourite the banana cream pie...which normally you only get for lunch...but of course kim can get it for dinner dessert...and yes..it is good...so let me share some pics from Cagney's....
And yes...we have had some sushi lunch in the cabin....the first time we ordered way too much....we almost died...and the next time we learnt....but both times...just divine....my favourite the dynamite role which is tempura prawn california topped with avocado and eel....divine...yes...of course the octopus and salmon sashimi....and not to forget tons of ginger....will share a pic...to make you a little jealous.....
It really is a very pretty ship....a little smaller than the Jade...but still has 2700 passengers....for me enough....so....now i have shared the new work place with you...next blog will be about my new adventures and the new places that i have seen....it has been an absoloutely great experience and trust me i will have many things to share with you......and wait...one picture of the Norwegian Spirit to end my blog.....
