Tuscany

Yes yes...its definitely been a while....but i have started a new contract on the ship and first week is always quite busy....so no time...believe it or not...i have signed on 10 days ago and i actually have not had a chance to go outside...i guess it is what you call afternoon shift....oh well....let me go a few steps back and tell you about our trip to the tuscany....kim and i decided to fly in a little before we would start work so that i could show him my favourite place....tuscany...i am an absolute sucker for the tuscany...you know...i actually think i could live there....open a guest house...offer nice breakfast and al fresco dinner....hmmmm.....im in my own little dream world, hahaha....anyway moving on.....we stayed in a little B&B in San Gimignano....well, just outside....very cute (a little bit driving in the dirt road which next time i would research a little better, but otherwise perfecto).....we rented a small fiat and explored the surroundings.....from Volterra to San Gimignano to Siena....and a little Chianti.....i just love the landscape, food, atmosphere....just everything....the wines...fab....prosecco divine...aperitifo...great...one night we were lazyso we ended up making our own al fresco dinner...wild boar salami, toscana salami, peccorino, parma ham and mozzarella....wow....wild boar is a speciality...in toscana they make most of their bolognaise with wild boar (yes, we tried it, and it is fab), both the salamis were fab and the peccorini (sheep milk cheese) wonderful...we tried one made in ash, one with truffle, one with wine, one normal...and all just so bloody fab.....never thought i would like sheep cheese...but def cannot taste it...and of course mozzarella....torn with divine olive oil.....and proscuitto....and a bottle of chianti.....

Fab dinner....al fresco style

And well.....kim still wanted ice cream after dinner...so made our way to San Gimignano...and guess what we found...."Best ice cream in the world" and "Gelato world champion".....hmmmm....of course we had to try both..and the winner......"Gelato world champion".....amarena.....pistaccio, we tried at both places....yes...of course we also had ice cream in Siena and Volterra and on the way to and from the tuscany....but that was a given, right?

So...now enough about the food....no..actually there is one more....we tried the pici wild boar (thickish spaghetti with wild boar bolognaise).....yummie...i think i would have preferred actual spaghetti...but sauce...fab...and of course pizza...we found a quaint little spot in Siena...enjoyed pizza and chianti for lunch....we were totally in our element.....
