Prague
So...now i am back from Prague.....very beautiful city....honestly liked it....prague and budapest are very simiLar, lets see....both cities are divided by a river into a left and right side, the left side is dominated by a castle district and a large church while the right side has the jewish district and is where the young and the new, vibey city is.....
The castle district which you access by going up many many stairs was very beautiful and the view from there is great (see first pic below) and the church...wow....amazing architecture and looks so gothic, nothing i have seen before (see second pic below) also saw all the main synagoges and the jewish cemetry.... The pinkas synagoge was very moving, on the walls inside are all the names of the people that died in the holocoust, it was very hectic...but goood to see..... The most amazing sight by far was the famous charles bridge...wow....it was begun in 1357 and all the staues that line it are jesus propogada....quite a sight......and architecture of buildings is stunning (see third pic below)..... Also the astronomical clock which feAtures a mechanical peformance of christ and the apostels stunning (see fourth pic below).....
But as u all know me...the most fun i had was trying all the varoius foods and drinks (that is actualy why i love to explore cities)...now lets first talk about drinks...hmm...it is a beer drinking nation, pilsner urquell..so i was not in my element, tried one And never again....had the bohemian sekt though...which was fabulous...also tried all the three famous digestif spirits.....Absinth, bEcherovka (some herby drink) and slivovice (prune based).....all quite disgusting...i even had an absinth truffle...man so not worth the money haha.....the one night i got this giant martini glass from which i was served slivovice that was so funny...(see first pic below)...the prague kitchen so not my style, they love fatty style kitchen.... meat served with cabbage and then accompanied with either bread or potato dumplings (see second pic below)....for startes they mostly have soup...there are so many and honestly those i liked, chicken with omlette, beef broth with liver dumplyings (excellent), potato soup and my favourite garlic soup, and they were not shy with the garlic at all (those are the ones i tried but there s more)....but here is the very interesting part...they tAke these exact bread and potato dumplings (which are served for main course) and make desserts from them....The potato ones, they serve with hot butter and poppy seeds, see third pic below, i didnt really like it, but Ate it all....cause when will i ever have thAT again.....And from the bread dumplings they make them round and put jam in the middle...either strawberry, apricot or blueberry and serve it with hot vanilla sauce.... i tried the strawberry....so dry....so not my scene (see fourth pic below)....,but i did find 2 amazing desserts...the honey cake.....wow....never had something like this before and the apple struddle...tried a few, but the best was at the coffee shop called cafe louvre (at which albert einstein and franz kafka drank coffee)......amazing...and verdict on their coffee...they can make it...but not as good as the italians or south africans....Also interesting guess wot i found....a chocoate coffee shop....so amazing....For the hot choc they melt 100g pure chocolate and serve it to u...didnt try thAt...thought id be sick......
So Now the verdict...budapest or prague....budapest it is....why....cause i love their coffee shops and all their cake displays.....so amazing.....and their metro...its like something i have never seen before, also the people are more friendly and it is less touristy....it is just more real and more me...also they like wine as opposed to beer.....so my choice budapest.....now back in vienna for the last few days......
